December 31, 1999 wasn’t the end of civilization as some had predicted, but it was a pivotal point in my life. My sister, Elle James, and I worked in an IT company for a large financial corporation. We’d volunteered to be on hand when the world ended. As the hour approached, we drank champagne from cheap plastic flutes while we watched rats running down the empty, darkened corridors.
“Do we really want to be here in another ten years?” I asked her. “Hell no,” she said. That night, we made a pact. We searched our hearts for the Big Dream. “What do we want to be when we grow up?” we asked ourselves. We were both avid readers of romance and had said often, “We could soooo do this!” So, writing it was.
In January, we joined a writers group in San Antonio. By April, we already had our first three requests for full manuscripts from major publishers. It took a few more years to sell, and there were some tough times with some major life changes while we downsized our lives to make room for full-time writing careers. But we both made it.
These days, we aren’t commiserating over lousy bosses and impossible project deadlines. When we get together, we dream. And wherever our imaginations take us, we have each other while we make this fantastical journey.
And the picture? That’s us playing dress-up. Elle’s the pretty one on the left.
Official Biography
Until recently, award-winning romance author Delilah Devlin lived in South Texas at the intersection of two dry creeks, surrounded by sexy cowboys in Wranglers. These days, she’s missing the wide-open skies and starry nights but loving her dark forest in Central Arkansas, with its eccentric characters and isolation—the better to feed her hungry muse!
For Delilah, the greatest sin is driving between the lines, because it’s comfortable and safe. Her personal journey has taken her through one war and many countries, cultures, jobs, and relationships to bring her to the place where she is now—writing sexy adventures that hold more than a kernel of autobiography and often share a common thread of self-discovery and transformation.
Delilah Devlin is a prolific and award-winning author of erotica and erotic romance with a rapidly expanding reputation for writing deliciously edgy stories with complex characters. Whether creating dark, erotically-charged paranormal worlds or richly descriptive historical stories that ring with authenticity, Delilah Devlin “pens in uncharted territory that will leave the readers breathless and hungering for more…” (Paranormal Reviews) Ms. Devlin has published over 140 erotic stories in multiple genres and lengths.

Hobbies, Interests or Enthusiasms
While I’ve lived a very adventurous life, I’m a true geek at heart. I love to pour over history and mythology books from around the world. Many of those stories have inspired me and ended up as central themes in my own work.
Travel is high on the list of things I love to do. Not the bus tours where a guide tells you when to point and click your camera. I prefer carrying a backpack, buying a rail pass, and waiting until a village calls to me before stepping off the train to explore. I don’t mind not being able to speak the language, although I’ve studied several. Sign language works quite well and can lead to many funny situations!
