I wrapped up that story that was giving me fits yesterday. It came in nearly 11,000 words longer than I expected. But hey, since I was flying by the seat of my pants with that one, it’s to be expected some things would change. When I write the longer books, I have to know more about the story than just the opening scene—which was all I had when I started The Marathon Menage.
Anyway, I’m going to visit the 5-year-old and hear straight from the horse’s mouth how her first week of school went. On the telephone, all she could talk about was her excitement over riding the big kid’s bus. I’m sure I’ll have better success directing the conversation toward more enlightening subjects when we’re together. Yeah.
To keep OUR conversation going, how about you tackle this simple little question. Inquiring minds want to know…
If you could know one fact about every person you meet, what particular fact would you want it to be? (Assume that the other person would not have to be aware that you know this fact about them.)
Okay—no boxers or briefs!! (That was the first thing that popped into my head.)

It would save a lot of trouble and heartache if I could know whether the person I am speaking with is genuine/good. I hate it when you spend a lot of time with someone and then find out they were full of it. Basically would like a BS meter.

I would like to know if they made friends for a lifetime and are loyal to them or if they make friends just for the moment.
I hate wasting my time on someone getting to know them to later find out that they were a fly by night friend.

Lisa! Sounds like you’ve been burned a time or two. My own view of that is I don’t want to know whether someone’s lying to me. If they are doing it because it makes them feel more important, I’m happy to indulge them.

Brandy! I’m an Air Force brat who spent many years in the Army. I moved so often I only learned how to be that “friend for now”. I didn’t know until recent years what I’ve missed out on. The Internet helps me keep connected with people I meet. I might see them once in two or three years, but the communication helps keep the conversation and the learning about each other going.

I hear what you’re saying Delilah. Being a Navy brat myself, spending a little time in the Army and now still being affiliated with it, I was super picky about making friends. I knew that I wouldn’t be around for years on end so I didn’t like to waste my time on someone who would only be my friend when she felt like it or didn’t have anyone else to hang out with.

If I could know 1 fact about everyone I met, I would want to know what their secret is. Why? Everyone has a secret, something they did, or something they saw, but a secret none the less. Weird huh, I know but it would be interesting!

Maribel! As a writer, that idea intrigues me. What if you had the power to know that one secret when you met a person?!

Hmm, what I would do? I’d be a spy, who worked for herself and was contracted with the elite. Flying all over the world learning a lot of secrets, meeting lots of gorgous men.
That would be a good idea for a story, a sexy woman who mingles with the rich get secrets and meets a man that captivates her. She finally meets her match with this intriguing man.
Wish I could write but since I don’t know how to I’ll keep reading your books!!
I’m currently reading Seduced be Darkness, and Obsession. I’m really into vampire books right now!!!
