Another question…
Monday, April 12th, 2010

While I continue to plow through the last revisions of my book, I’ll pose a question to you. I’ll be back with a contest tomorrow!

What type of service to others or good deed done for other people do you personally find the most rewarding? (It can be big or small)

This may seem petty, but it’s the little things for me – holding open a door for someone, giving someone older than you a seat on a bus, train, in a waiting area, it includes even acknowledging someone with a smile or “hello”.

For me, it’s the daily good deeds, such as, giving a friend a ride, the pinch hit babysitting, picking up prescriptions for a friend, etc.

I love to hold a door open for someone…it’s always a quick pick-me-up for someone…I also like to buy food for the local Food Bank and donate as well as participate in any local fundraisers for local charities. I think one of the easiest good deeds is to pass on a small smile to someone…always a great to brighten up someone’s day.

Lovely examples of ordinary kindness, ladies! I don’t see it often enough.

Letting someone merge into traffic. Asking the person, who has only one item if they’d like to go ahead of you in the line. Rubbing my hubby’s back, even when he doesn’t ask. 😉

I donate to the local food bank. I’ve noticed that more people are using them these days. And I don’t just donate food. Both the local food banks also have a room where you can get toys, clothes, books and household items that have been donated by others. when ever I get some cleaning out done, anything that still is usable but I don’t want any more gets donated.

I love reading to people. Say they’re ill, or don’t have their glasses readily available, or…for whatever reason.

I get a lot out of it too, but I’m told I’m a good reader, so it’s a pleasure to read to someone.

Also, if someone’s struggling to find their purse in a shop, I love the look on their face when you say, “Oh don’t worry about it, I’ll get that.”
