Today, I’m talking again about my Viking book at Nine Naughty Novelists. Remember, any comment you post there counts as an entry in the Authors After Dark Grab Bag Contest. Remember, I also have two $25.00 gift certificates up for grabs in the Promo Ho Contest! Both those contests end next week! Details about both can be found on my Contest Page.
And just so you have a reason to post a comment here, today… Did you know…?
Alaska has the highest percentage of people who walk to work.
~from Snapple Real Facts
That seems just plain wierd to me given the fact it can get pretty damn nippy up there. Wonder why that is…
Comment
Probably goes with the fact that Minneapolis has one of the largest number of people who bike to work. You wouldn’t think so given our winters, but the city is pretty proud of it.
Comment
Maybe they feel safer walking on the slippery ice & snow than they do driving on it?
Comment
Maybe because of so many small towns and it’s hard to get the car started at twenty below.
Comment
could be they live so close to where they work it doesn’t make sense to drive.
Comment
interesting fact..I would have thought no one walked in that cold.
Comment
I only live in Ontario Canada and don’t walk outside much in the middle of winter!

I want to visit Alaska…. Australia never gets particularly cold especially where I am, not brrrr cold. That is a pretty neat fact, be lots of fresh air there with no morning traffic congestion.
Comment
interesting fact. I think it is because they live close to where they work at. Maybe it is because of gas prices in Alaska.
Comment
That’s a weird Alaskan fact for sure–not something I would have guessed!
Comment
hmm, didnt know that. i would have thought dog sledding or snow mobiles.
Comment
Interesting… I wonder why?
Comment
are people healthier there because of it? very interesting fact!
Comment
I don’t know but that seems crazy I would not be out in those cold temps.
