I’m talking about covers, of course. My publisher will likely be VERY UNHAPPY to see these draft covers on my website, but I can’t make up my mind. Or rather, I have, but I’m getting stubborn about what I want. I don’t like most romance covers. Even my own. And maybe you can guess which one I love when I say it POPS and is completely memorable. But I don’t have a typical romance reader’s taste.
So, I’m bringing the covers to you. What you choose may not be the final, but it will help me tell my publisher what readers love. So vote. You can make two choices. And if you leave me a comment telling me why you loved your choices, you will be entered to win a $10 Amazon gift certificate. You only have today!! I will close the poll this evening so I can answer my editor. Thanks for your help, everyone. At the bottom of the page, I’ve posted my version of the blurb for this book so you can see what it is all about.

A bloody handprint on the inside of a mirror forces a disgraced ex-cop to seek help from two former lovers, her ex-partner and a powerful sorcerer, to stop a murderous demon
*~*~*~*~*
Private Investigator Caitlyn O’Connell lost it all—her plum job as a detective for the Memphis PD, her partner and lover, and her own self-respect—to booze in an attempt to drown out the voices in her head. When her ex-partner drags her to a murder scene where she’s his only real lead, she knows it’s time to face her greatest fears and harness the inherited gifts she’s always rejected. That she’ll have a chance to prove she had damn good reasons for shutting Sam out of her life is just icing on the cake.
The last thing Sam Pierce wants is to revisit his painful relationship with Cait, but she’s the only lead he has. Sam doggedly follows Cait into a dark world filled with magick and unholy terrors as they search for killer wraiths and the demon who commands them.
[If it helps, this isn’t an erotic book. Sexy, yes, but slanted more toward a paranormal romantic suspense!)]

I chose 1 and 4. For different reasons.
1 has the broken glass with the eye peaking thru. It grabbed me right away.
4 has the graveyard setting with the gal kinda out of focus looking far away. Feels spooky
Hope this helps!

The #1 cover option just seemed to catch my attention better than the others and I would have been more likely to purchase it because of that. 🙂
Comment
My favorite is #6 but I do like #1 as well.
Comment
Cover #2 – her eyes are looking through you to your soul and what you have hidden
Cover #3 – broken glass is pieces of her soul shattered that can never be put together again.
Comment
I really like #2 and #3. They just seem to fit better with the story, I think. #1 would be a good option, also.
Comment
Love #6 the best and overall …. Just not the “O” with pentagram. If the “O” was normalized the cover would be perfect and very enticing. 🙂
Comment
My favorite is 6, with 3 a close second. I love these options and that they aren’t typical. I love 6 for the graveyard and the ethereal quality of the woman, and 3 was close second because I love that shattered mirror and the font of the title.
Comment
I voted for number three simply because that looks like a cover that would draw my eye when looking for books to purchase. The others just seemed either too dark or unremarkable.
Comment
I like cover 6 best. It would encourage me to buy the book. My second choice is cover 1. IT is mysterious and I would want to find out what was taking place behind the cover.
I really HATE cover 2. I would never buy a book with a cover like that. It would haunt me! LOL!
The other covers are OK but not good enough for one of your books.
Comment
I picked #2 and #3 B/c those are the two that most grabbed at me, and me think “if I saw that cover I’d def. pick it up to look at the back and check out what was doing on the inside.
Comment
I voted for 1 and 2. But 1,2,3,and 6 all fit the suspense genre (which I love).. In looking again 1 and 2 are still my favorite and its hard to pick between the two
Comment
I like numbers 1 and 3. If I have to pick just one, I go with 3 since it pops more to me.
Comment
I am torn between 1 & 6 😕
Comment
I vote for 5 and 6. I like them because I feel they reach the “soul” more than the other ones. These are haunted.
Comment
I chose #6 because I love the cemetery and #1 because I love the broken glass with the eye showing. I would be drawn to both of these.
Comment
I liked #3 the best out of all the covers that would be the one I would want to read, the other ones do interest me. I would even read #1 but I like 3 better. 🙂
Comment
I chose 1 and 6.
Love the glass and colors in 1. Also like the eye in the shattered glass portion…and the faded/cloudy portion as it gets to the title/author part.
Love 6 because of color and a sense of darkness. The clouds add suspense and love the way the symbol is the ‘o’ in souls.
Comment
I can see why you’re having a difficult time!
I voted for number six because of it still having a romance feel while not taking away from the suspense plot thread. The only thing I would change is the lettering and positioning of your name. In my humble opinion, if it had the lettering from cover one (while keeping the pentagram) it would be perfect.

I like #3 and #6. I like the broken glass in #3 and the overall mood in#6. HATE #1 but #2 even more.
Comment
Number 6 is closer to the blurb posted below the covers.
Comment
Number 1 grabbed my attention right away with the glass and colours, which is why I chose it. Did not like 4,5, or 6 because they look to Young Adult.
Comment
I like #1 and #6. I think #6 makes me think more sex. Is this good? 😈
Comment
I really like #6 the best b/c I think it portrays the excerpt the best… it is dark, but the female is beautiful and looks strong but breakable at the same time. It also looks like she almost has dark wings protruding from her back the way the darkness/fog (?) lays.
#3 is a close second since it is shattered glass representing the shattered life of the main character…but imagery is stating that she is willing to get cut on the shards to do what she feels she must do and face down the wraiths and demon controlling them.
I really love them both…but think for a romance #6 is more appealing.
Comment
I chose #1 and #6.
#1 grabbed my attention immediately and captured the “shattered” of the title.
#6 is more atmospheric and captures the whole storyline.
HTH.
Hugs xx
Comment
I choose #1 or #4. As a reader, like with food, I read the cover with my eyes first. For some reason those two covers talk to me and peek my interest.
But if I had to choose just one, I would go with #1. In my opinion, it probably fits the description of the book a little better.
Comment
One and 6 are my favs because when you look at them you get the feeling that her soul is shattered and may be beyond repair.
Comment
My favorite is #1 it got my attention better than any of the others.
Comment
I couldnt figure out what is was about #6 that was off – but in reading through everyone’s comments – it does have to much of a YA or Urban Fantasy feel to it – not very romantic suspenseful.
Comment
Option #1 was my only choice. It really popped for me and caught my eye. I would definitely pick it up to read the blurb if I saw it in the store.
Comment
I chose 2 & 4. Mostly because they caught my attention & were a bit unexpected. Good luck. Hard decision.
Comment
My favorite is #6 because it looks mysterious and mystical with the ancient looking graves stones and crosses. I also like #3 because it’s how I “see” a shattered soul, glass shards crystal clear but damaged beyond repair…or are they? For me #3 really POPS… Awesome Delilah!
Comment
First of all the book sounds good, so looking forward to it. I choose 2 and 6, I like 6 the most. 6 because something about the fog and the women looking over her shoulder is just mysterious. Also I like the way the title has a pentagram in it. I picked 2 simply because the blurb says she escaped into alcohol and the girls face looks like she’s pretty messed up and lost. 6 is the winner for me, good luck choosing!
Comment
I definitely am more likely to chose a book if I’m attracted by the cover. Number 6 grabbed me.
Comment
Sorry, I suspect you loved #1, but it looked like a straight up horror cover to me. #6 is my favorite by far. I love the female body and shape, and the ‘typical’ romance covers, anatomically improbably as some of them are, just look beautiful to me.
Comment
Chose 6 and then 3. They just appeal to me. The others not so much and I might not even pick them up.
Comment
I like 3 and 6.
3 because I like her hand being up and about to touch the broken glass. Her hand brings your focus to the glass.
and 6 I like the misty look
Comment
I chose #1 first because it’s stark (reminds me of covers by my fav Swedish thriller author, Liza Marklund) and the red goes with the bloody handprint.
I chose #3 because the graphics are crisp and other important elements of the story are in the background.
I like the broken glass on both covers because the heroine is on the downward slide and is brittle.
Comment
Number 5 with the red hex sign reflects the story best (#4 was my previous favorite, but the touch of red makes it better).
6 is too soft and dreamy. 1 and 2 are striking but the story doesn’t seem to fit those hues. In #3, the woman looks too soft as well, and kinda helpless (same impression from #1 as well). Not that any of them aren’t stunning.
So yeah, definitely #5 my favorite.
Comment
cover 1 – the red caught my attention more without the harsh feeling #2 has.
cover 6 – has a great spooky feel to it.
Comment
I voted for 6 and 3. I think 6 is my overall favorite but I would definitley pick either one of those up. I liked 1 and 3 also but to me they didn’t look like a romance more straight suspence or even horror so I might overlook them in a store setting if I didn’t recognize the author’s name. Didn’t like 4 and 5 at all…..not really sure why 😐
Comment
I liked #1 the best as it draws you in. I also chose #6. It just has that paranormal vibe.
Comment
OOPS! Meant to say 1 and 2(not 3) didn’t look like romantic suspence even though they are both awesome covers!
Comment
#6 – because of the mystical graveyard and the ethereal look of the woman, plus the O as a pentagram gives the whole thing a paranormal/wicca feel.
#3 – because the shattered glass fits the title and the font is nice and simple so as not to detract from the picture but still large enough to read properly (I need different glasses for reading and normal seeing so it’s easier for me when the font is large enough to see without the reading glasses in a bookstore).
Comment
I chose 6. It fits perfectly. She tried to fight back from her fear (foggy). 😉
Comment
I chose #6, it calls to me. 🙂
Comment
1 and 3
Comment
I liked #3 best – the shattered mirror works with the title and you can tell it is suspenseful. #6 is good as well – It has a romantic and paranormal feel at the same time.
I HATE #1 and #2. They immediately draw your attention, but I really do not like them. I wouldn’t buy a book with those covers.
Comment
#2 and #1 in that order. They grab you buy the shirt collar and say, “Look at me. I’m intriguing and different from the other twenty books on the self next to me with the same safe covers.”
On a side note, it’s amazing to me how varied people’s opinions are! Best of luck!!
Comment
I said 5 and 6 but I really meant 4 and 6.
Comment
I picked #2 and #3, but I like #2 best out of those. It’s so striking and completely original, plus it has that comic-book kind of feel to it. If I saw that I would definitely pick it up. It’s just awesome! 🙂
I don’t know why so many have picked #6. I liked it the least! It looks like any generic cover to me. *shrug*
