I purchased all three seasons of the BBC series, Primeval, and have been watching it with my daughter nearly every night for the past couple of weeks. I’d caught the odd show here and there before and liked the premise of tears in time allowing creatures from other time periods (dinosaurs!) to slip through to the present.
Watching the episodes in order made a huge difference. 🙂 There are plot holes—Joss Whedon (Buffy, Angel, Firefly) isn’t responsible for the writing, but the cast is marvelous and the episodes fun.
So I was thinking, what paranormal or sci-fi series, now or in the past, do you love?
Is there one you would recommend we purchase for our next para/sci-fi marathon?

Dexter.

Buffy the vampire slayer and once upon a time

‘The Vampire Diaries’ or ‘True Blood’! 😀

‘Firefly’ – only 1 series before they chopped it – but it’s funny, and has lots of aliens and spaceships – and a to-die-for hunky hero!!

Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Witchblade, Xena Warrior Princess (even though Fantasy, that should count if Once Upon a Time does), Heroes, Sanctuary, Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, Being Human, Haven, The Ghost Whisperer, Dead Like Me.
Um, can you tell that Science Fiction/Fantasy/Paranormal is what I like to watch? 😛

As a teen, I loved “The Time Tunnel” (’67-’68) – and “Star trek”, of course.

I’ve only seen the first season of Primeval and I enjoyed it, I guess not enough to run out and get the rest though. Love the last season of Angel and season 6 of Dr. Who with Matt Smith. Eureka is good, especially the last season.
Shauntih and I have very similar tastes, I like all the ones she mentions except Being Human, The Ghost Whisperer and Heroes. They were all just ok, not must see for me (saw both the British and US Being Human). Liked Farscape and Lost too.

Dr. Who (any of the Doctors but remember that the first ones are from back in the 60/70s).
Torchwood (wonderful spin off from Dr. Who – Set in Cardiff and starring John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness *drools*)
V (either version is good but if watching with your daughter the more modern version is probably better)
Blood Ties if you like Vampires and mystery together 😀

I agree with many of the titles listed….Firefly, Angel, Buffy, Dead Like Me, V (both old and new versions as they both are entertaining), Torchwood, Doctor Who, Hex, Lost Girl, The Walking Dead, Earth: Final Conflict, Forever Knight, and Friday the 13th: the Series. I think that’s all I can think of for now.

I love the new paranormal series called “lost girl” starring anna silk, its on the syfy channell and is on hiatus right now,but when it premiered last year,it showed 2 seasons in a row.Its all about the worlds of the light and dark fae and is fascinating, tho not for the kids as the star is a succubus and must have sex to keep going. I also totally love Game of Thrones and who doesn’t love True Blood. In the past when they were on I never missed Torchwood,Stargate Atlantis and SG1 and tho its been a while since they’ve been on who could forget any of the Star Trek shows tho there wasn’t a lot of romance, but for romance and paranormal right now Id have to say number 1 is Lost Girl

Stargate and SG1 are my two favorites but Hex, Dead Like Me, and The Dresden Files are also good.

Once Upon a Time and Buffy are my favorites.

Definitely go with Farscape. It is a great series with a wonderful romance in it. I would also suggest Firefly and I’m probably in the minority, but I enjoyed Dollhouse by Joss Whedon.

Ladies! Thanks so much for the suggestion! My dd has never heard of some of these shows. Great suggestions! And Lisa, we are both in the minority then, because I LOVED Dollhouse!
