A Question…
Thursday, January 24th, 2013

Tomorrow, I begin my countdown to the release of Shattered Souls, but I thought you might like to take a breath before I assault you with luscious, spooky excerpts from my book. And you certainly won’t want to miss the countdown, because I’ll be giving away goodies!

So a simple question…

If you could add one thing—big or small—to your home, what would it be?

For me, I’d add a separate writing cabin, complete with a tiny kitchenette and a pull-out bed for over-nighters. If it just happened to look like a hobbit’s house, I’d probably never leave!

Psst! Sometime this morning, my blog at the Samhain site will go up. Be sure to hop over there too and answer another question for a chance to win a free book!

A bigger bedroom (with fireplace and private bath, including a whirlpool bath). I would love to get a king size bed since there is very little room for me and the 2 dogs, especially the 85 pounder. My room barely handles the dressers and queen size bed.

I was going to say a sauna. (Right now I’m freezing up here in the barren wilds). But then I read your idea, and I like that better. Although I would add a space heater. 🙂

Lisa! I hear you about being crowded out of your bedroom. I feel the same way. Of course, if I could actually limit my collecting… 🙂

I would make a craft room for myself with a brand new sewing machine ans enough workspace. I’m using such a small space now it drives me crazy.

Sabrina! Now, if I could make a list the sauna would right there after the hot tub! LOL

Now you got me thinking. I would also like a fancier kitchen (maybe an oven that cooks at the temperature you set? Heavenly). Oh, and how about a “storage house”. You know, an extra house for all the crap I don’t want in my house but can’t seem to let go of. A backup storage house would be nice too.

    Just sayin’

Also, a beading room. Just for beading. Like I have time for that.

A writing space for myself. Currently I’m in a corner of our den and its no problem during the day, but at night, I have to wear headphones to block out the television and noise.

Oh, Marika, I can so relate. I’m in the dining room and have to wear noise canceling headphones to drown out the football games.

I’m at home, alone during the day so its not an issue but at night…hubs and our 7 yr old son take over and I can’t concentrate if I don’t have my headphones on.

Oh and a nice built with shelves, too. I’m really not picky. Just want my own space that I can work in with shelves.

I would add another room and use it as my library. I would put all my books in there and buy a comfortable chair and read.

I would like a library/office where I can read and write in peace…no distractions and peace and quiet…not that when my hubbie and sons get home there isn’t peace LOL! ❗ 😆

The shed in my back yard is falling apart. I would love to replace it with a separate craft cottage for jewelry making where I could have a kiln and use my torches without fear of burning down the house. By adding electricity, a kitchenette, a small bathroom, and a futon, I’d have a guest cottage as well.

Although I love my home the one thing I don’t have is a laundry room it’s a pass thru from the garage and I would to be able to make it more even though I hate doing laundry

I’d get a kitchen cabinet and counter makeover. What we have is 60’s formica and plywood cabinets stained dark. We’ve gotten all new appliances but the rest is pretty dreary.

I’d put in a pool. It got HOT here in GA and I need the physical therapy a pool can give. The problem is we have a septic system, so nowhere to put an in-ground pool. My husband won’t even entertain the idea of an above-ground pool. He is looking into getting the septic system moved to the front yard, but I don’t think that is going to work.

I designed my home and we had it built so any problems/frustrations are my of my own making…lol. I was constrained by budget and size of our lot. I would figure out how to add a separate laundry room instead of a closet in my hallway. I’d also move a few light switches, oops. 😉

I’d add an extra room just for my books, with a comfy armchair and a kitchenette for hot drinks & snacks whilst reading 😀

I would love a bigger kitchen especially if it had room for a table and several bookcases. My present one is very small.

I’d need a long, lush garden with a cosy little cabin at the end for writing in. It would need crocheted blankets, a woodburner and NO internet access.

An outdoor gazebo with screens for the nice days, windows and heat for the cold ones… A fireplace and jaquzzi inside would be nice too….

simple answer to that is a washer/dryer combo…it gets expensive having to go to the laundry mat every week.

I’m not quite as ambitious. I don’t want a whole building just a room equipped for crafts, reading and my computer with a spa tub in the attached bath. 🙂

Can I get away with build a house? (I rent)

Okay.. I want a seperate laundry room. Whoever designed this house had a screw loose or something ( I mean that in a good way for it was the grandparents that had this house built). They have the laundry room right in the kitchen. It gets really old having to move laundry out of the way to cook dinner. With four kids laundry just never ends. The back door (in the dinning area) is straight across from the front door (in the living room).

The bedrooms are small. The master is 12×14 with a very small closet. The other bedrooms are 8×10.

the living room is odd…can’t do much rearranging for the way it is laid out…It is not that wide but long.

Okay…I think I will end there… I guess I cannot complain too much. The house is owned by my mother-in-law. But she lets us do what ever we want to it. I just cannot get a loan to build a new one or additions due to the fact that it is not in our name. And she does not qualify for a home loan.

I like some of the other ideas here…I am going to keep some in mind for if we can get our own loan to build.

I would love a large bathroom with the largest sunken bathtub you could have. With an extra large vanity. The other half would be a large walk in closet.
