So many authors are at RWA this week, I’m feeling a little jealous. Especially since RWA is in San Antonio, which is my previous home town. I’m missing friends and familiar places. Ah well…
I have a question for you. Those are always fun. I love seeing your answers, but first, I want to post a few reminders…
For Writers
I have two current Calls for Submissions for short story anthologies which will be published by Cleis Press. Pay attention to those deadline dates. I am still in need of stories!
**In Vikings’ Arms — Deadline: August 10th — find details HERE
**Rogue Hearts — Deadline: September 15th — find details HERE
For Readers
I have two current releases. Both of which mean a lot to me. If you haven’t ordered them, please do. If you’re read them, please post a review or tell your friends. And thanks to those of you who already have! Mmmmwah!
The Question
If you had time, had energy, and the money to start a new hobby…
what would it be?

Well i would start to learn to paint and travel across the world. Oh and buy all the books in the world that i want to read and not be limited to a budget lol 😛

I WOULD REACTIVATE AN OLD HOBBY. I LOVE TO PAINT IN OIL AND WATERCOLOR AS WELL AS FABRIC. I LOVE TO DO CRAFTS, PLANT FLOWERS ETC. I LET MY HUSBAND TALK ME INTO SELLING MY ARTIST EASEL AND DRAFTING TABLE. I USED THE DRAFTING TABLE TO DO MY WATERCOLOR AND OF COURSE THE EASEL FOR MY OIL PAINTING. I DO THE BOB ROSS STYLE OF PAINTING ALTHOUGH I CAN DO THE OTHER WAY AS WELL, BUT I LOVE SEEING RESULTS NOW..LOL HATE TO WAIT. A NEW HOBBY IF I COULD AFFORD IT WOULD BE TO GET A PLACE AS CLOSE TO THE OCEAN OR GULF THAT I COULD AFFORD AND DO DAILY WALKS ON THE BEACH WITH MY POODLES AND FIND SHELLS AND SOOTHE MY SOUL. IT HAS BEEN A DIFFICULT YEAR, WELL SEVERAL YEARS AND I CAN NO LONGER TOLERATE THE VERBAL ABUSE. I FIND MYSELF BECOMING SOMEONE I NO LONGER RECOGNIZE. I AM TO OLD TO START OVER BUT IT APPEARS THAT IS WHAT IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN AND BEING A SENIOR ON SOCIAL SECURITY DOES NOT AFFORD ME THE LUXURY OF DOING ANY OF THE ABOVE. THE LITTLE BUSINESS WHICH IS NOT SUPPORTING ITSELF WILL NEED TO BE SOLD. PAY OFF BILLS AND PRAY FOR ENOUGH TO GET THE HECK OUT OF HERE. AT LEAST I WOULD STILL HAVE MY COMPUTER, KINDLE AND BOOKS AND GREAT AUTHORS.

Hmmm with all the money I can do a lot. Travel and tour older countries. Or learn how to fly or climb or hike mountains. Or bike. Or just stay home and grow orchids in a beautiful green house.
Oh the possibiities.

Don’t know if you would call it a hobby, but I would try my hand at writing. I am totally amazed and envious of the process of getting words from the brain to the page. Let’s just pretend that I also have the talent that it takes to create beautiful, romantic, hot love stories.
That would be a dream come true if I were able to spend my days writing stories that others would enjoy reading. Hobby, maybe, maybe not. Life changing adventure ~~ definitely!!!! 😛

I would go back to doing ceramics. I loved it, but can’t find anyone to fire the pieces or even pour them so I can buy the greenware. It would be awesome to make things like that again.

Ceramics (potters wheel ceramics) which I haven’t done in years (used to work for Casa Picasso a potterry studio a few years ago…also made fused glass jewelery there) and I’s love to sculpt again!!! 😉

I would learn more about making jewelry. I’ve done a little bit, took a class in beadwork, but would love to get more into it.

I’m loving all your answers! It seems a lot of us want creative outlets. I determined 14 years ago, that I would make a “dream” hobby real and started writing. Now, I’m learning there’s so much else I can do. For someone who thought she only had a logical brain, learning I can make jewelry, that I can paint (even badly!) is very freeing.

Good question. And, honestly I have no idea. I wouldn’t mind volunteering at a hospital helping with the babies.

Clowning. I love to entertain. I used to clown , but life got in the way.

I would love to learn leather working!

I would open a book store. I tried a small nook in my niece’s antique mall, but was unable to monitor it or re-fresh it as my husband had a heart attack.. Because I live five hours away, it was a big flop. I want enough capital to keep it open, have book signings, a comfy place to sit and read. You know the book store of your dreams. Thai is what I want.
