It’s that time of year again. The time when we set bright and shiny goals and resolutions. I talked about some of my personal resolutions on my blog recently. But today I thought I’d talk about the resolutions we set as readers.
In general, it seems most people don’t set reading goals. But I’ve found that in the romance community, we’re all about the reading challenge. And I love that. I love having some goal set that I’m working toward with books. Last year, I created my Push Your Boundaries reading challenge to try to encourage me and others to step outside our favorite genres on occasion and expand our reading horizons. I did pretty well, hitting about 75% of the categories I’d set up. But this year, I’m not sure what challenges I want to do beyond my number goal of reading at least 60 books.
I want to continue to read widely and not just in my favorite genres because I definitely discovered some books/authors I liked last year that I never would’ve found without the Push Your Boundaries challenge. But I don’t know if I’ll do it as a formal challenge. And I’ve done the 50/50 challenge a few times before—50 books and 50 movies in a year—which was fun, but I’m not sure I want to focus on movies this year. I’m more behind on TV shows. And I’m way behind on my TBR pile because, lawd, do I have a lot of unread books. I may have a book buying addiction—shh, don’t tell. 😉
So maybe I’ll fashion some challenge this year that focuses on decreasing the TBR pile I already have and on watching some of those TV series that have piled up on my DVR and Netflix cue. Hey, maybe I’ll call it the Catch Up Challenge, lol.
But here’s what I want to know from you: What reading goals are you setting this year? Do you set a number? Do you participate in some of the fun annual reading challenges that book bloggers host? Tell me your favorites! I’m a sucker for a reading challenge. 🙂
CONTEST: Leave a comment and get a chance to win a copy of my book, NOT UNTIL YOU!
And if you want to help fund my book buying addiction (*wink*), here’s my newest release—a hot m/m/f ménage!
About NOTHING BETWEEN US:
From the New York Times bestselling author of Need You Tonight comes a steamy Loving on the Edge novel that proves watching is only half the fun…
Unlike the heroine of her popular thriller series, Georgia Delaune can’t afford to take risks or push sexual boundaries–unless you count spying through her neighbor’s bedroom window, and never missing a single move he makes.
Colby Wilkes is more than willing to put on a show for the alluring woman next door. But his dominant side aches to show her the pleasures of submission up close. As a counselor, Colby is sensitive to Georgia’s fears. As a Dom at The Ranch, a private BDSM retreat, he’s the perfect teacher to unleash her passion.
But just as Georgia lowers her emotional barriers, an unexpected complication arrives: a bad boy musician from Colby’s past who adds fuel to her heated imagination. Now, the lonely author has two gorgeous men eager to fulfill every fantasy she’s ever written–and one she’s never dared to dream….

I love reading challenges! I’ll be doing five this year, and I’m pretty excited about two new ones because they’ll help me tackle two things in my reading pile that I probably wouldn’t get to otherwise: Read Your Freebies hosted by The Book Vixen, and New To You Reading Challenge hosted by Herding Cats & Burning Soup. I think my freebies pile is somewhere in the triple or quadruple digits 😯 This challenge will help chip away at that pile. The NTY challenge will finally get me to start reading those authors I’ve always wanted to but haven’t had time for. Aside from those, I have my staples: Men in Uniform, Romantic Suspense (both hosted by The Book Vixen) and Erotic Romance (hosted by Herding Cats & Burning Soup) RCs. You’re on my NTY RC list since my friend Sandra Bunino sent me Melt Into You. Shoutout to Sandra.

My reading goal is 200 books this year. I haven’t signed up for any challenges yet, but I am looking for interesting ones.

I try to read a book a week, more or less. Mostly romance with some thrillers.

Sorry, but this fan girl had to squeal.

First off gotta say Nothing Between Us was super hot! Loved it. Now to answer your question, I set a goal for myself of 50 books. I’m not the fastest reader so I set it at an attainable goal which I sometimes go over. I don’t join ones on any blogs/because they usually have certain lists to follow and that would only discourage me. Thanks for the opportunity! Not Until You is one of my faves.

My goal/resolution is to read a title per day. Missed it last year by 15. Yes, I am that voracious a reader and I read just about everything. (This and other of your titles are on my tbr mountain.) Hence, I find the concept a challenges a bit redundant. That being said, I did sign up for the 2015 Read Your Freebies challenge. I have a kindle full of those that I just don’t seem to find the time to read. So much to read . . . I need to go read now! 😉

My reading goal this year is 85 bks. I did it last year & my goal was 75 books. I passed my goal last year by a few books. I don’t get to read much during the week because of work. Summer break & whenever school is on break I do most of my reading.

I have all of your Loving on the Edge books except this new one. Once I started reading them, this past summer, I couldn’t get them read fast enough. It’s one of my most favorite series ever. Thanks for writing such captivating books.

My reading resolution is to reduce my TBR pile and post reviews.

I belong to two groups on Goodreads and participate in many challenges there. They have monthly challenges, seasonal and annual. This year in the Romance Readers Reading Challenges Group I am doing the A-Z Book Challenge (26 books, one for each letter of the alphabet), and the Chubby Chunksters Challenge (three to ten books of 450 pages or more). Along with some Random Book List and probably some seasonal challenges as well.
Then in the Bookworm Bitches Group, I am playing Reading Bingo and they have a Reading Scavenger Hunt with 50 tasks such as read a book you started and never finished; read a book by a female author; read a romance; read a book with 500 pages, etc. They also do a quarterly TBR Catch Up Challenge that is fun.
As for an annual book total, I set one on Goodreads and they help me keep track. I think this year I said 50 books as a goal.
Happy Reading Everyone!

WOW…. how about I just read all I can….I average over 200 on a good year. Carpool line is good for reading and if I go to the hunting camp I can finish at least 3 over the weekend( the guys go hunting and take the granddaughter). If we travel I can read a book on the drive to and from. Yes I take my reader everywhere!!!! LOL 😛

I set a goal of 200 books this year. I read 160 for 2014 and met that. Have about 12 already bought on pre sale! Just waiting on release dates! If you write it they will read it!!! 😛

I forgot to say that I have never set reading goals. I simply read as much as I can, as often as I can. I usually read at least 5 books a week depending on their length.
