I bought a little brainstorming tool years ago at some writers’ conference. I’ve used it only twice—here, on my blog! “Story Cubes” is (that looks wrong, but I promise it’s not) a brainstorming game. You roll the dice and whatever pictures appear face up are the ones you use to riff off a story.
Here’s the roll…
Do any of these symbols tell you anything? You can pick some or use all of them. Tell me a story, or even just a glimmer of an idea, for a chance to win a $5 Amazon gift card!

Paratrooper on an airplane to Vegas to meet friends to celebrate a wedding. Bachelor party night out with the guys, casino to gamble and then back to the suite to drink and catch-up. And that’s all I have.

The aging man leaned on his cane. A saddened look crossed his face as he glanced across the field. The games were in full swing. Horseshoe’s, dice, dominoes and his favorite, chess . Many old faces were in front of him. Old paratroopers, and jumpers from his past. One filled with so much pain and loss. But for the survivers we look forward to this day. One of memories and celebration of lives lost.

~Tired of sitting around and moping about what could be or could’ve been, it’s time to do something for me. Bright ideas only come to me occasionally. This one was a dozy, and honestly not sure if it’s a bright idea at all, but I’m all in.
Determined to connect with long-distance family and hopefully some adventures, I’m rolling the dice and heading for the open spaces and coast of Oregon. So in the immortal words of Steve Miller (Band), “Oh, oh big ol’ jet airliner… Goodbye to all my friends at home, Goodbye to people I’ve trusted, I’ve got to go out and make my way”.
So here I go….

While on a plane to Vegas, a former spy’s plane was hit by a magnetic pulse causing it to go down… the former spy was able to parachute out and landed in a forest… now with only his wits and the moonlight will he make his way out and figure out what happened?
