UPDATE: The winners are…Wendy Vest, Dana Zamora, and Pamela Reveal!
*~*~*
This shelf is right above my monitor. And yes, it’s super jumbled (not junky, because none of it is junk!). When we moved my office, everything was pitched willy-nilly into the shelves. I still haven’t found “homes” for everything. Although, I do like the Singing Raisins next to my Gaia statue. Do you see Harley Quinn behind the shell that goes with my sage bundle? And my poor ancient shabti, hidden behind the sage? That came from an Egyptian gravesite and was used as inspiration when I wrote my awakened mummy story, Crescent Moon. (Hmmm…did you know it’s free on KU?!)
Anyways, the point to all this is the little stack of books at the very back of the shelf on the left. I love those little books you find at the bookstore. I even contacted the company that produces these little books because I had an idea for a zombie book, but they have their “on staff” writers who do those. Very disappointing. I have my little book of Budha, my little book about the goddess within. My roundabout point for mentioning all this is the little book, entitled The Woman’s Book of Simple Delights.
During this time of deprivations, we should be looking for things to delight in, don’t you think? So, I’m going to randomly open the book and repeat the suggestion there.
“Have a cold beer in your yard late at night, looking at the stars—OR—Attempt a cartwheel.”
Do either of those appeal to you? Do you have a better self-pampering, delightful suggestion you’d like to share? Comment below for a chance to win your choice of either one of my recent releases or a short story from my short story page! I’ll choose 3 winners!

I have been redoing my bathroom. I love painting and decorating. Next I’m redoing my bedroom. It’s very soothing to me.

Last time I tried a cartwheel, I about broke my wrists… I’ll go for the beer. Or glass of wine.

I have not tried to do a cartwheel since I was 12… I will stick with reading and listening to music.

LOL! I am too old, well the body says it is anyway, to attempt a cartwheel these days. Once upon a time, I did. Not anymore. Sitting outside, late at night, drinking beer -yeah, I can handle that one – as soon as it warms up a bit more. Looking at stars? Well light pollution delutes that joy, but a few do still shine through. In the meantime, a nice cup of tea and a good book works for me.

How bout a hot tea, piece of chocolate and a new book!

I am cooking for my kids which I find very relaxing. We have discovered we all love oatmeal cookie sandwiches! We are also watching shows recommended by our kids. And we are loving watching Jeopardy together. Everyone is working and going to school all day so we don’t get tons of time together so it’s nice to find little things to do since we aren’t often all together.

I don’t drink beer and I couldn’t do cartwheels even when I was young, limber and thin! LOL
I love the picture of all of your treasures. My mom was a collector. She had several printer’s trays hung up on her walls and they were filled with unique treasures.
That hobnail glass dish looks very familiar. I think it was my grandma who had one but it could have been my mom. I love the pink and the blue hobnail glass.
My husband and I visited the glass factories in Ohio and West Virginia on our honeymoon in 1974. Back then we actually toured the workroom in one factory where glass was being blown by hand. I can’t remember all of the places we toured but I know we were at Fenton (bought several souvenirs) and Rainbow. Alas, so many of them are gone now.

I enjoy looking at the stars but shall have a glass of wine.

My favorite is to go into my bedroom with the door open one foot so The Goldens can come join me, hop into bed and READ! It gets me away from all the males in the house (well, except for the two furry ones that come & jump into the bed with me so I can pet them and snuggle into 150 pounds of golden goodness….) and I can let my mind escape into written worlds.

Thanks for playing! I loved your answers! Yeah, I’d break a wrist too if I decided to cartwheel, which I could never do well when I was young.
