Our girl turned 16 today! Her mom and I sat up late last night on the back porch with her, talking about how time flies after a certain age, telling her to enjoy these years, don’t grow up too fast, etc. There was lots of laughter as we told stories on each other of just how awful we were as kids and how miraculous it was that neither of us did time… LOL. My grandaughter just shook her head. “If I did any of those things I’d be grounded until I was thirty!”
Ah, to be that young again. We gave her gifts first thing this morning, and now she’s in town getting her driver’s license. Ack! She has practiced a lot. She really is ready, but now we’ll be nervous wrecks every time she heads out the door…
Have you gone through this with your children or grandchildren? Are you “Nervous Nellies” too?

She is beautiful. Happy birthday. Yes I have 4 grandkid drivers and 1 to go. They all seem to be good drivers so far.

Happy sweet 16! Yes, to be that young again LOL
My son turned 17 in May, so yeah I hear you… always thinking, hoping for a bright future, talking to him since he was little about life and dreams, and how to navigate them.

Ah . . . The trials, and joys, of parenthood. You are lucky. You have a beautiful, and very supportive, family. BTW – Happy Sweet Sixteen to the Granddaughter. She is going to be a heart breaker.

When my oldest was a teenager I would periodically call my parents…and apologize, “y’all remember when I did this? I am sooooo sorry, and this time I mean it”

Happy birthday to your granddaughter! That smile looks a little be forced. 🙂
No kiddos or grandkiddos here but I’ve heard a lot of stories over the years from friends about thei worries they had.

Thanks for your good wishes for her birthday! Her favorite gift was getting her “real” driver’s license. She’s been our errand runner ever since—and happy about it, for now! 🙂
