UPDATE: The two winners are…Savonna and Daphne Cochran!
*~*~*
Yes, I spent two hours in a dentist’s chair this morning. Why? I broke a tooth biting into a piece of Mentos gum on Monday. Yup. Gum. Weirdest sensation ever. The gum’s hard shell was surprisingly crunchy. It took me a minute to figure out why, but then my tongue touched the inside of a tooth that was no longer there. My first words after I made the discovery? Fuckety-fuck-fuck-fuck! I’m not polite when I’m pissed.
The doctor saw me that afternoon then told me, “Want the good news? I don’t have to pull your tooth.” The bad news was I would need a crown. And without dental insurance, you know I’m out a chunk of change. 🙁 They scheduled me to come in this morning to ground down what was left of my tooth and give me a temporary crown until the permanent one arrives around February 1st. So, I’m back home with half a numbed mouth having to slurp my coffee because I can’t feel the lip of the cup. (Dang, I’m whining, aren’t I?)
Now, I don’t hate going to the dentist. I’m not afraid, even when he pulls out that huge-ass needle (as he did today to numb by mouth). I was on a deadline this week to finish a book—which I did yesterday. I was only worried about how much time my visits were going to consume. But I did pass a woman on her way back to an examination room who looked about ready to pass out. So, I do know a trip to the dentist can be traumatizing to some.
My question to you for a chance to win your choice of a download of a book from my backlist is…are you chill with your dentist visits or are you like the poor woman who looked like she was walking to her death? I’ll choose two winners!

Im chill with mine. Do I go as often as I should, No. But I love my dentist office.

I do t have an issue with the dentist. I did as a kid though. I haven’t been for a while though due to Covid. They are just doing emergencies around here right now.

I’m chill . . . until just before that needle comes. (Although occasionally I’m completely fine until everything’s finished.)

I don’t like going but I go. I have been seeing my dentist for over 20 years and she and her staff all know how much I hate coming in. My next appt is on Wednesday already know there going to yell that I don’t brush enough. Oh well that’s life. I still love them anyway.

My previous dentist that retired recently had started giving me anxiety to go in. But my dentist is amazing and no anxiety with her at all.

I am chill for the most part. My issues are my jaw might lock when they are working on my teeth. Or I might throw up as I gag real easy with something in my mouth. I can gag just from brushing my teeth.

I hate the dentist. Not sure why, I haven’t had any major dental work done at all. I just don’t like the sounds I guess. I’m happy to go to my cleaning 2xs a year but that doesn’t mean I like it one bit lol.

Its been about 5 years since I seen a dentist. I had a what teeth I had pulled about 35 years ago and and had dentures until 5 years ago. I had lost some weight and my dentures were were falling out of my gums so I had to get new dentures.

I don’t mind going to the dentist. I’ve had extensive dental work done, gave me a whole new face.

I have had to go there dentist since I was 6 yrs old! I have a hereditary tooth disease and so I have been in and out of dentist all my life so not frightened by them! But I still hate going to dentist!

It doesn’t really phase me. Though I normally have work without being numbed because my body metabolizes the meds so quickly that it works for about 2 minutes. So I just deal with the pain.

OMG! I feel for you. I have a bunch of crowns, and I hated getting every one of them. I am terrified whenever I have to go to the dentist, even just for a cleaning. I sweat, my heart races, and I shake all over. This isn’t for the contest. I just wanted to commiserate.

I love the dentist. Not a huge fan of the dentists that do root canals but that’s probably because, you know, root canal.
Comment
don’t mind it

I’m completely chill….. I went in for fillings and took my headphones was listening to an audio book for the 1.5 hrs and she had to tap me yo tell me to bite down coz I wasn’t paying attention and had zoned out.

I’ve had 4 molars the one of the points (corner) break off and need a ctown.. I think I have more crowns than my teeth. It started when I was kid and to this day they fall apart. I can’t tell you how many root canals I’ve had.
I have no problem after going for so long.

I have a good dentist and he does a good job and does not hurt me when he works.

No issues here. I go every 6 months.

I’m chilling, I love my dentist she’s amazing, I had a tooth pulled several years ago that took almost 2 hours and when she was done the tooth was fused with a wisdom tooth that didn’t look to be an issue on the x-ray, I lost 15 pounds because I could only eat soft foods, they love talking about it to others

I definitely have no problem seeing the dentist, that is if I can afford it.

I hate going to the Dentist.
As a small child, the dentist we went to would put in a filling and 6 months later he would drill it out and put another filling in.

I’m pretty chill. My frustration is that my teeth went to hell after my girls were born.

I’m pretty chill with my dentist. He is compassionate & listens to my concerns. For instance, I can’t use the nitrous oxide as it makes me sick. So, only numbing injections for me. I’ve had other dentists ignore that, but not my current one.
Comment
I have had so much work done that I feel like it is doom and gloom when I go

I am pretty sure they have my name down in red as the crazy scared of dentist lady. I had a bad experience when forced get my wisdom teeth out in boot camp (navy) and it cause a dental phobia.

I have a great dentist. Anything more than a cavity, she sends me to a specialist (only been ne time), and he was great too. So I don’t mind at all.

The last time I went, I had a bad experience… if needed, I would try another office.

I’ve never minded going to the dentist. In preparation for braces (more than 50 years ago) I had 7 teeth pulled – 4 permanent, 3 baby) and even that didn’t make me dislike going. I’m fortunate to have pretty good teeth. I also had the same dentist for over 30 years so he was more like a friend (it was just him and his wife who assisted him).
I can relate to the no dental insurance. We just spent $2500 on a bridge for my husband. Unfortunately his teeth aren’t in quite as good shape as mine are.

I’m usually OK with the dentist, though it isn’t on my top ten list of favorite activities! So sorry about the broken tooth 🙁 That happened a couple years ago, and I can’t say it was terribly fun, LOL!

Well I too am out chunk of change dear Delilah! I swallowed my crown about ten days ago after chewing on a Trader Joe’s coffee rio 😆 So Last Friday I had my crown put in and wouldn’t u know it they forgot to glue it down! No worries I don’t mind going to the dentist and praying I don’t have to pay out of pocket twice yikes a fortune rotflmao🙏🥰

I am one of the terrified dental patients. The older I get, I think it gets worse. I am fortunate to have a long line of lovely ladies with amazing teeth, so I don’t go to the dentist as often as I should.

I think I struck a nerve with the dentist pic. So many comments! LOL
FYI, I’ve been back to the dentist and now have a temporary crown while I wait for the good one to be made. All’s good.
