Last night was prom for the 18-year-old and 17-year-old. It was a day-long ordeal for the girl to get ready. This is a photo of her corsage and her date’s boutonniere, which ended up creamier-colored than white, but they really didn’t care. They were both all smiles and laughter. Very happy. They met up with friends at the local college where there are some very great backdrops for photos, and my dd obliged them by taking dozens of photos. I’ll share a few on my Facebook friends page.
They took this one for fun to symbolize the end of prom.
I went to bed before everyone came home, so I’m dying to hear how the night went. I’m sure there was plenty of drama. I hope the girl and her boyfriend made it through the night without breaking up. That our 18-year-old found plenty of folks to dance with (since he disinvited his date for disrespecting his sister). That they all had good, clean fun. The 17-year-old was hoping to end the night at Waffle House rather than the After-Prom Party because she’s not a fan of drunken drama. If they did, the 18-year-old will have been disappointed. 🙂
When I think about my own prom, I wasn’t very popular—I was “the new girl” that last year of high school. I was lucky to get a date because this Arkansas town was very cliquish, and you really did have sharp divisions around the various groups. The only accepting group was the Stoners. So, guess who I spent my time with…
What about you? Did you go to prom? Did you go with someone special? Was it wonderful? Boring? Drama-filled?

I went to 2 proms. The year before I graduated and the year I graduated. The year before I was asked and had a wonderful time. The year I graduated I had to do the asking and I did not have as much fun as the year before. No drama for me.

I went to junior prom. With someone I knew but didn’t have a great night. It was boring and I was left alone most of the time.

I went to all of the school dances with my then boyfriend/now hubby. Our first date was a end of year school/9th grade prom. We’ve been together ever since.
For my high school senior prom he drove home from college in Atlanta to go to the dance and he proposed that night.

Thanks for sharing! I went to one prom my junior year (I quit high school after that to go straight to college). As the nerdy new kid, I wasn’t very popular and an equally unpopular guy asked me, so we’d have dates. Sounds so sad, doesn’t it? 🙂
