UPDATE: The winner is…Terra Oenning!

Yes, it’s a THING! And it’s the only kind of shopping I love! Hunting for treasure—what’s not to love? See my hauls from old “treasure” hunts!
The old-fashioned jewelry is perfect for mixed media projects (like pulls for tops of painted boxes!). See the letter holder? All it needs is a pretty coat of paint to update it and voila! The tin can be cut up for jewelry projects, too! The pretty bottle in the center is a large vintage hand-painted snuff bottle (which I collect!). It’s topless, but for a buck, I couldn’t resist!
My dd collects vintage Pyrex! I collect mid-century George Briard pieces (the gold tray). The trivet at the bottom of the photo will be great for pressing impressions in clay and paint! And I collect vintage vanity powder jars (see the swan?). And again, a tin to cut into jewelry dangles!
Lots of craft-worthy stuff here, too! Things to press, paint, glue!
Yeah, I know. Most of y’all would look at my hauls like they’re a bunch of junk, but there’s joy in DISCOVERY!
Help me celebrate National Thrift Shop Day by telling me about your favorite thrift or garage sale finds for a chance to win a download of a book from my backlist of stories!

I don’t get out much anymore, but my house is furnished by Pole Barn and A Passion. You can see what they sell at https://www.facebook.com/KurtsAntiquesAndFurniture. My niece brings me pansy finds. She is a sweetheart. Have a lovely set of drapes from her. My favorite find was yarn! Three totes of yarn for a dollar a piece. Kept me crocheting for months! Your finds mostly looks like stuff I am purging from my home right now to make room for new treasures. So goes the cycle of things. Isn’t it wonderful!

I don’t go much to yard sales of garage sales….even thrift shops. I always find something I “think” I should have. But I e got so much around the house now, I’m considering going through it and having it removed. I’ll probably donate it to a thrift shop because a lot of times people might be looking for just that item.

I used to love thrift shopping (I really still do) but I had to give it up because the treasures I found were running us out of the small 1300 sq ft mobile home I downsized to 9 years ago. I do miss going and hunting for bargains.
I used to buy high-end shoes and purses and sell them on ebay but I had to give that up, too. Not enough time and not enough space to store stuff.
None of your finds look like junk to me.

My favorite yard sale find was a collection of Viewmaster reels showing the National Parks in the 1940s and 50s

Thrift shops are so much. I found an amazing dragon plate in one.

I love thrifting! I just got a brand new pair of Dansko clogs for $7! I love Dansko clogs but they are way too expensive full price. Bonus is that they are denim blue. Years ago a found a pack of Baggy Racks (holders that help you fill zipper bags for food prep). They have turned out to be one of my most used purchases ever. I collect bolts of fabric at yardsales. I’ve met the nicest people just by going around and asking if they have fabric for sale.
