Yes, it’s a thing! And don’t you learn the least important stuff on my blog?
What are some of your favorites? Or maybe some tired ones you’d rather never hear again?
Here are some I’d love to go away: “Love is blind!” “All’s fair in love and war!” “A fool and his money are soon parted!” “Cold as a witch’s tit!” Okay, so maybe that last one isn’t quite so famous. My ex-Irish-husband liked that one a lot. (And no, he was not talking about me.) 🙂 We’re very good friends still.
So, with clichés in mind, let’s have a contest! Of course, we’re having a contest!
Tell me your picks for most annoying clichés and those you love for a chance to win a $5 Amazon gift certificate!

– ‘You can’t judge a book by its cover.’ – my opinion is, of course you can, most of the times LOL
– ‘Good things come to those who wait.’ – patience is not a virtue

“Tomorrow is another day.” – A cliche but it always gives me hope. ; )

It’s fun to see where some of these sayings come from–I feel like there are some where the original meaning has been lost or doesn’t make sense for anyone outside of the US or…
Like what does it even mean for it to be raining cats and dogs? To go cold turkey? Until the cows come home? LOL! I’ve used all of these, but honestly, have no idea how they came to be!
One of my favorites is, “Not my circus, not my monkeys.” Which works great except for the situations where it is alas, my circus… haha!

“Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.” Maybe not really a cliche but it’s the only thing I could think of right away. LOL

You’re all so good at this! And yes, some of these old sayings don’t make any sense at all.
