I bought this little brainstorming tool years ago at some writers’ conference. “Story Cubes” is a brainstorming game. You roll the dice and whatever pictures appear, face-up, are the ones you use to riff off a story.
To make this fun, I’ll offer a prize—a $5 Amazon gift card—good for purchasing one or two stories…
Have fun with this! Don’t overthink! Here’s the roll… (Ignore the gray hair! 🙂 )

I went on a crazy adventure… my guide took me under the ocean to find the perfect octopus for dinner… he says it goes great with this snake dish he makes with rice.

I went to do the laundry. While we waiting for it to finished up we worked on a puzzle. We decided we were going for a picnic.
But a snake sacred us so we changed our minds and headed for the shore. The sea beacons for a dinner cruise on the sea.
No boats, were available the only thing that was near offering dinner was a yellow platform. So we decided a submarine dinner cruise instead. So we had our dinner under the sea watching the octopus and other creatures dancing to the on the ocean floor while we enjoyed the views and music playing.

Far beneath the waves a sub moves silently along. The crew have their favorite playlist on while they prepare food for their meal. They speed by octopi and sea snakes. If only they were paying more attention they might try to puzzle out why there is a witch’s cauldron at the bottom of the ocean.

Submarine delivering octopus soup with snake topped rice

I was stirring my cauldron when I dropped in my porridge. After waves starting rippling, I was surprised to see a snake and an octopus arise from the cauldron’s depths. They threw puzzle pieces at me and sang until a submarine arrived a took them away. Before they left they blew all my meters.

I was finishing up my breakfast whole listening to music. I started a fire under my cauldron to start making snake soup. It was a puzzle when I tossed the snake into the cauldron to see waves and then a octopus attack a submarine. During this time all of my gouges blew.

Beauregard Bumbgartner was an eccentric old man who lived in a grotto by the sea. One sunny afternoon Beau’s live in assistant, Friday, looked around the cave for him.
“Beau? Where are you?”
“I’m feeding Percy.”
Music echoed from within as Friday headed deeper into the cave. He stopped at the edge of the pond to look at the pet octopus.
“What’s with the snake, Friday?” Beau asked holding a small fish for Percy.
As the octopus reached out with a tentacle for the fish, Friday answered. “I’m cooking snake fried rice for supper. Where’s the wok?”
Beau scratched his head. “Hmmm… the wok. Remember the hurricane last month when the storm knocked down our antenna? I’ve been trying to figure out how to fix it. You now I love a good puzzle. I used the wok to repair the radar dish so we could get radio reception back. I worked. I checked the dials and we’re getting more stations than before.”
“Great, but what do I cook dinner in?”
Beau pointed at a shelf. “Remember our last submarine trip when we landed on that island? I grabbed that cauldron as a souvenir. Go ahead and use it.”
Friday grabbed it and headed out. “I’ll call you when it’s done.”
“Perfect. I’m hungry.”
