I have this box of conversation-starter cards and thought it would be fun to start something here! So, I’m pulling a card…
Here’s the question:

My town has 500 people. I would like a grocery store and a pizza joint that delivers.

good old fashioned coffee shop that had excellent food and service

Trader Joe’s – the closest are only about half an hour but I don’t go up the highways very often

I’d like a craft store. Someplace to browse for yarns etc.

We have a lot nearby… I am missing Long John Silver’s though…. they closed ours years before.

I miss having a store like the old time Sears or Montgomery Ward. They had everything a home could need and quality service. We have a hardware store that they run like an old time hardware store and it’s always my first stop when I’m looking for stuff I think they sell. It’s so nice to have a community store like that.

Marc’s which is a closeouts and grocery store I shopped at all the time in Ohio. Much better deals than Big Lots.

I live just outside a city. Everything I need is within a half hour.

I’d love a metaphysical store.

Probably a Sam’s club. Is what my mother would say.

Would love a romance bookstore, LOL!

A bookstore with a coffee bar.
It would be a place where you would go to meet friends, or have an hour to yourself.

A deli where we can get good sandwiches & deli meats & salads & since we’re in a rural area a grocery store close also

Am asian market…. and they must have heard me as one is opening here next year.

A mixed media store where you could find books, music, crafts, magazines, and unique small gifts…but with places you could sit and try the different items. Also, where there would be weekly author talks and craft lessons for free.,

I’d make a a old style cafe . Where people could come a sit and chat and drink real coffee that has a normal price instead of like star bucks, and and have ice tea or hot tea in tea pots and have fresh desert’s they could rest while from shopping. I’d also sell books so they could just sit and read.
These day’s most cafe’s are aimed a college kids but I want mine aimed at every one . Adults, children and up. A family style place you know you can be comfortable in.

So many good ideas for stores your town needs. I would wish for something aimed at kids. A game center, a bowling alley…somewhere they could hang out. A movie theater!!! Lord, for a town this size with two colleges, we should have a movie theater!
Okay, back to choosing a winner… The winner of the GC is…Wendy Vest!
