UPDATE: The winner is…Terra Oenning!

In keeping with my Christmas Countdown over on Facebook, today’s word search puzzle’s theme is Christmas Tree Ornaments! We all have our preference for dressing up a tree. My granddaughter prefers a more modern and coordinated tree. My dd and I love a cozy, weirdly mismatched tree because we love the ornaments we’ve gathered over the years. The 10-year-old loves her tiny tree that’s decorated with pink pigs—her choice.

I have some crocheted (like tatted if you know what that is) angels that my mom gave me. Mom died in 1989. I treasure those.

I don’t have any special ornaments. The last tree I ‘put up’ was in 2007 (or 2008) before my mom died. After my dad died, I decorated every year for her. But after she died, well… It was never the same. I had a hour+-each-way commute so I saw no reason to make multiple trips to the cellar to bring up everything to decorate and not be home to enjoy it. I have a fiber-optic tree I sometimes set up. Call me a grinch. Oh, I make candy and give gifts, but for me, the joy is gone. I hope no one every feels this way.

Mine is a clay angel my aunt made me in the 70s and still have it today

Oh well, I have passed all my ornaments on to my daughter. They include the vintage ornament that my mother received on her first Christmas as a married woman. Then there are the handmade set I received on my first married Christmas. And of course, the annual ornament sent each Holiday to my children from my Mother. All special in their own way. I hope my daughter finds them as special as I did.

My favorite ornament does not fit on a home tree but a town tree. It is a large ceramic ornament with a Currier and Ives design on front and back. I found it at an Antique Mall. I hang it in my front bay window on garland with lights.

That’s a tough question. I don’t have any ornaments I don’t love. I’ve gotten rid of about 75% of my decorations in the last few years so I only kept favorites. I have a tree angel that I got more than 30 years ago that I still use even though she’s broken. I just love seeing her on a tree.

My Dd loved Cardinals and built up a collection, so I tend to make my tree with a lot of them. My favorite is a hand painted cardinal on a long porcelain ornament that hangs on a stand to really show it off.

My absolutely favorite ornament is one from my Opa and can’t go on a tree as it’s to heavy made of Delftware from the Netherlands. I’ve got lots of ornaments ones I’ve made, one we’ve gather for 40 years. A gnome tree. I want a patriotic tree most as I’m a veteran. My daughter and Mom helped, and I now have two U.S. Navy ornaments for it. Also a ceramic one made by my Mom when I was a child.

I love doing these. While doing these I remember all the handmade ornaments my mom always puts on the tree that I made while growing up. I also love to add the shiny brite ornaments to our tree that are vintage looking. They make the holiday full of memories.

I have some made by my kids when they were younger. I’ve got some Hallmark ornaments with pictures of all pets who are no longer with us….i like having them on the tree to remember them. Some special ones with photos of my grandkids.

Most of my ornaments have disappeared over the years during various moves. I still have a couple that were the hallmark ones of child’s first Christmas for each of my daughters. We have a couple this year made by my granddaughter. She’s so proud to have those on the tree.
