I don’t know about you, but when the weather turns cold, the Devlin house prefers heavier, heat-you-up-from-the-inside kinds of meals. I listed some of our favorites in the word search below.
For a chance to win a $5 Amazon gift card, tell me which of these dishes you love, too, plus give some suggestions for dishes you love on a cold winter’s evening that you think we ought to try!

I forgot one of my favorites that we’ll be having this week: Corned Beef & Cabbage—well, we substitute sauerkraut!

Hmm! That Beef stew looks so good. I am a sucker for the classics. Chicken and dumplings and meatloaf too. Not on this list is Potato soup. Also a cold weather favorite of mine. Now I am hungry!

I like meat, but tend to eat more veggies. I like a lot of the dishes you listed, but if it has rice, it moves to the top of the list. At least 3 or 4 times a month I make a pot of veggie stew. No potatoes. Just carrots, celery, onions, garlic, cabbage, sweet pepper, zucchini, and fresh green beans. I season it and generally just add 6 packets of soy sauce. Sometimes I will add half a bottle of stir fry sauce, This is good cold. I will add pineapples and chicken (nuggets are faster), some sweet sour sauce and serve over rice. I also add general tso sauce to veggies and serve with rice. I will add broth for a veggie soup. I will add salsa and rice for a Tex-Mex flair. Good to have in the fridge and equally good for a fast hot comforting meal.

Potato soup or Brunswick Stew.

I love chili in the winter because it keeps the kitchen warm all day. I make a mean beef roast that cooks for hours. So darn good!

Spaghetti w/garlic bread and either green beans or carrots as a side. And warm carrot cake for dessert.
