UDPATE: The winner is…Debra Guyette!

Oh! We haven’t played this game since February!
I bought this little brainstorming tool years ago at some writers’ conference. “Story Cubes” is a brainstorming game. You roll the dice, and whatever pictures appear face-up are the ones you use to riff off a story. You can try to include all the cubes in your “story” or choose a few.
To make this fun, I’ll offer a prize—a $5 Amazon gift card—good for purchasing one or two stories…
Have fun with this! Don’t overthink! Here’s the roll…

It was a beautiful day out, so I grabbed my sunglasses and backpack and went for a walk to the beach for some vitamin D. On the way I saw this HUGE black bird pulling this snake sized worm out of the ground. Looked like a good tug of war. Then this masked man with a skull and cross bones tattoo on his arm jumped out at me, trying to scare me or something. I wasn’t impressed. I waved him off and kept going. I passed through a lovely oriental style gate and there was the beach. Beautiful. Thought about dipping my toe in the water until I saw an octopus sunning itself in the shallows. Decided I needed to go back home and work on my jigsaw puzzle. Seemed safer today.

I was out walking when I cam to an oriental gate of some sort. Sitting on top of it was a huge blackbird wearing a pair of glass like Harry Potter’s. He gave me a puzzle pieces and told me I had an important job. He gave me a backpack and some advice that told me that I would receive some help from weird sources – two shifters, one an octopus and then other a snake. He also told me not to trust the pirate. He could be identified by a skull and cross bone tattoo. Then everything disappeared except for the back pack.

The observant raven sat high on the torii gate, watching the thief rip the glasses off the traveller’s face and steal his backpack. The robber ran away to the shore, where he disturbed a poisonous snake who bit him, causing his demise. The tide came in and swallowed up the thief and the puzzle pieces clicked into place as the octopus played over his body and played with the glasses.
