UPDATE: The winner is…Beckie!
*~*~*
Tomorrow, I’ll be heading to the big city for some imaging appointments. Yes, it’s a pain in the ass. However, my daughter and I try to take advantage of the fact we’re out and about to enjoy some shopping and some good food. We’re big foodies and have adventurous tastes.
Last week when we were in the city for another appointment, we hit our favorite Greek restaurant for gyros. There was a hummus appetizer and plenty of tzatziki sauce to slather on the pita bread. Delicious!
We haven’t decided what we’ll have tomorrow, but it will be good!
Since we don’t get away often, we experiment a lot in our kitchen.
Here’s a photo of one of my daughter’s latest entrees, Hungarian goulash. So good!
We dabble in Indian, Irish, German, and lots and lots of Mexican dishes. This week alone, my daughter made Indian Chicken Curry and the 19-year-old made chorizo-potato-egg breakfast tacos with homemade salsa and homemade corn tortillas. My spaghetti with meatballs is to die for, by the way. For Christmas, we toss the traditional ham or turkey and choose an international cuisine then research recipes. We’ve done Mexican, North African, then we circled back to Mexican, again. I’m hoping for Italian or Eastern European this year. Anyone have some good recipes? I know if we do Italian, I’ll have to do my meatballs and my dd will have to make her fantastic focaccia bread, but there will have to be more on the table!
So, thinking about food and tomorrow’s trip, I wondered how adventurous you all are! Do you like eating international cuisines when you’re out? Do you make special international dishes at home? (Spaghetti counts!) For a chance to win a $5 Amazon gift card, solve the puzzle then share in the comments!

My brother makes more when he visits us, and so does my Mom occasionally. I learned to make fried rice in the Navy, and I do make old Dutch recipes passed down from my Moms side. We all make spaghetti.

I love to try and cook Chinese or Mexican foods. I have done pretty good with Mexican but not too good with Chinese

When my daughter and I lived in the Seattle area, we tried a lot of different things. She tended toward the oriental and there were some awesome places for that, both family style and buffet. There was also a fantastic Italian place with other Italian goodies other than spaghetti. Other favorites of my daughter’s was Mongolian Bar-be-que and sushi. Neither hit my list, but I did try them with her. Let’s not forget, Mexican as she is part Mexican and her grandmother made wonderful tamales, enchiladas, and fresh salsa aka pico de gallo. Now we live in small town Michigan and the choices aren’t near as good. At home, I too make a mean pot of spaghetti.

I’m Italian, so food is in the blood. But since I don’t get out too often, I cook at home. I tend to go to Mexican or Chinese. What I do is make a big pot of stewed veggies. Then I make rice. Add in a rotisserie chicken, I can go in any direction I want.

I am very picky, but I enjoy some Italian, Chinese and German dishes.

I like Chinese or Italian when I eat out. These are the foods I cook at home too.

We love it all, LOL! We have a dish or two in several cuisines that we keep in the rotation, but some are so time consuming that we just don’t do it, LOL! For instance, we LOVE tamales, but haven’t gotten the hang of making them from scratch (we’ve done it once), so we’re happy to buy those. But say, Japanese or Thai curry–those are doable at home… Pho from scratch? Way too time consuming, so we usually just plan to order that when we’re out…

I do enjoy some foreign foods but must be careful due to allergies. At home, we go for jambalaya.

We eat all sorts of cuisines from all over the world. I make a mean chicken and broccoli and a rice noodle with chicken dish. I have been trying to learn to make Indian food but it takes a lot of new ingredients.

Just reading the comments made me hungry! LOL
