I’ve been through the desert on a horse with no name…
I don’t know why that song is playing through my mind today. Okay, so maybe because it’s so dang hot in this house. I’ve stopped looking at the thermostat. Only, this heat isn’t desert-like. It’s swamp-like. I should’ve hunted for a swampy picture for the puzzle.
Since I’m still whining today, you know that our AC hasn’t been fixed. The repairman tells us it will likely be Monday. He’s not my favorite person right now.
I’m tired of the slumber party every night in the 20-year-old’s room. The girls are lovely—my favorite people and wonderful chaos, really. But I’m ready to be a hermit and retire at night to my own bedroom. I was up at 3-ish this morning and tried to go back to sleep, but everyone, including the 20-year-old’s cat, was snoring. So, I snuck downstairs to my office, turned on every fan, and pointed it toward my desk, and here I shall remain until the heat fogs my mind, and I have to throw in the towel. Probably just after noon.
Whine-whine-whine. Whine some more. Okay, I’m done.

I have only just gotten up so my grey matter isn’t firing on all cylinders yet, so no “uplifting” quotes are coming to mind. My funny stories, if I could think of one right now, usually fall short of the mark. The only thing that came to my mind right now is, has anyone offered you any cheese 🧀 to go with all of that whine? IDK. It may help. I have heard they go well together. 😀

Found out earlier this week some folks I worked with were going to be here a few days. So another person set up a time for us to get together. Not really funny story but know will have some laughs about are experienses

My sister has been showing me funny pet Halloween videos… it has given me plenty of smiles and laughs… one was a dachshund dressed as a spider… had long legs and all and it comes running around the corner scaring people… it was so cute.

In roughly 5 months and a week, it will be the first day of winter. We’ll even start gaining minutes of daylight back!
No solution for the heat, but a suggestion. Dampen and lay a couple of bath towels in the freezer. If you have a portable drying rack (used to air dry sweaters, etc)Drape the frozen towel over it and aim a fan at it. It will help circulate cooler air. That is, until it totally thaws, but that’s the point of keeping 2 frozen towels in rotation.

My new puppy is learning how to howl. She kind of surprises herself and ends up sounding like she’s popping. It’s so cute!

I have been to the desert, which is why I remain in the green and shady midwest. Our dog flushed out some young wild turkeys from some bushes in our backyard and I don’t know which party was more surprised.

Had a nice Italian dinner with my sister-in-law and a friend – such a large portion that I brought home half, so can just heat it up for another dinner – yeah!

No funniest story here. Unless the most nightmarish sumner so far. No A/c this whole summer so far. Been down sick for over 5 full days. Praying things are going better soon for you.
