UPDATE: The winner is…Eileen McCall!
*~*~*
Yes, I’m pitching another book—meaning, I have a new one coming out on Tuesday that I hope you’re going to love. I certainly do.
Cyrus and Milly were so much fun to write. You’ll think it’s crazy writer fantasy stuff when I say that characters reveal themselves to me rather than I create them. I wait for inspiration to tell my fingers what to type. Often, I see the story appear like a movie reel in my head, and I’m simply the person typing as fast as I can to capture what I see and hear. I pay attention to the clues, as they appear, about what makes my characters unique. I don’t like writing the same book with the same hero and heroine, just changing the names. And I may be starting a new Montana Bounty Hunters series, but I’m hoping the stories inside the stories are just as unique for every book as the two main characters.
Cyrus wrote himself. In the beginning, we meet him, and he’s not much of a team player. He’s irritated that MBH is moving into West Yellowstone and contemplating moving on to the greener pastures. Working with MBH doesn’t really change him. It’s meeting the one woman in the world who was meant to be his other half that convinces him to stick around. You’ll see. Milly is… You’ll see.
The adventures they both have together and apart keep the story moving along and add a lot of the humor and excitement. This story is stuffed with stupid criminals doing criminal things. That will be familiar to you if you’ve read other MBH stories. The takedowns are always fun.
I knew the day when I sat down to write the “meet-cute” scene, that Cyrus and Milly were going to meet. *duh* However, I didn’t know how they’d cross paths until this guy appeared. And yes, I had to find the words very quickly to describe this facial expression.
That’s all I’m going to say. The scene didn’t end the way I thought it would. Let’s just say, Milly made quite the impression on Cyrus. 🙂
That’s all I’ve got for today, folks. I hope I piqued your interest enough you’ll go pre-order Cyrus. Here’s the link to make it even easier: PRE-ORDER CYRUS HERE. See that? Super easy.

We were in Yellowstone National Park in early June and saw grizzly bears, black bears, antelope, pronghorns, moose, big horn sheep and lots of Buffalo! Amazing!

My favorite wild animal experience is the bear that literally stopped traffic to beg for food. He sat in the middle of the road so traffic would stop, than paced along side the cars begging. But if he saw a car that didn’t feed him start to pull away, back to the center of the road to sit he went. I got some nice pictures of the begger. Made for the most interesting road trip.

We were in Massachusetts with a group of Girl Scouts when we came across a mother bear and two cubs. While we watched from a safe distance, others rushed to get as close as possible. Fortunately some rangers were nearby.

I was on a whale watching tour boat in Alaska. I went to the other side of the boat from the crowd watching the humpbacks in the distance. I was leaning against the rail when an orca whale jumped out of the water right next to me. I had my camera on video and caught the entire jump. Scared me, but it was so neat to be able to play it back in slow motion.

When I lived on Drummond Island in the Upper Pennisula you never knew what of nature’s creatures you would see. Bobcat, mink, fishers, deer, bald eagles, snowy owls, barred owls, black bears, and more.

My closest ever encounter with a bear was only about 50 ft. Went out my front door to go to my car and there was a bear raiding my garbage can at the end of my driveway. He raided our can about half a dozen times that summer.

In Australia we have some of the most venomous snakes in the world. Living out in the bush I am sure I have encountered most. If you are sensible the snakes just take off, unless they are protecting a nest.

Years ago we were walking along the Appalachian Trail when my kids didn’t listen and they took a small side trail. We turned around because the kids came running up behind us screaming because there was a mama bear and her two babies “just right over there”. Seriously, they were right over there! That mama got her babies and they ran off. And then we went right back to our car. Too much excitement for one day!

Thankfully not too many scary wildlife encounters but we do live in an area where there are a LOT of deer. I was walking home from church one evening after choir practice and as I turned the corner onto our street, came face to face with a deer, LOL! I’m not sure which one of us was more startled, although I managed not to scream. It ran off, and I scurried home, heart pounding…

when I was in high school, my mom and me came home one night and I walked up on the porch and went in the house. I heard my mom hollering shut the door and I turned and looked and right there nosing around on the porch was a skunk. Our porch was closed in and it had come in by the screen door. Thank goodness the momma skunk wasn’t with it! My mom held the screen door open and it mosied right on off the porch with no incident.
