UPDATE: The winner is…Jackie Wisherd!
*~*~*
It’s not an official holiday, but it’s one I can get behind! I looooove coffee. When I was younger, I drank it all day long. Black. No sugar. All day long. These days, I have to keep it to two cups in the morning or I wreck my ability to fall asleep at night. My mornings, though, are always super-charged by the mighty coffee bean.
I know there are folks who detest the taste. Not something I understand. I drank from a large community urn when I was in the military. You were lucky in the morning to get a fresh, aromatic cup. By late afternoon, it was sludge, but I still poured a cup of ambition.
Coffee is more than a drink. It’s a ritual—for me, anyway. I have my first cup sitting with my daughter as the kids scurry to get ready for school. I carry the second cup to my desk to begin work for the day. I set it on that old cup warmer at the corner of my desk and drink it, one sip at a time, while I check my To Do list, begin my blog—and I’m off. I love this particular cup. The kids gave it to me one Christmas as a joke, a gentle funny dig because…guess what? I’m not so silent about correcting their grammar. I have tons of writerly mugs. Tons of Grandma mugs. They all have meaning and memories. I have cups my dad used for years that I cry over whenever they break or crack. Some I glue back together and use as pen holders because I won’t consign them to the trash. I’m sure you have some of those meaningful/memory-packed cups, too.
Enough about coffee and cups, though. It’s Tuesday. The first day of the month. I have a calendar to update, bills to pay. Pages to edit. It’s time to get to work.
For a chance to win a $5 Amazon gift card, tell me whether you’re a fan of coffee. If you are, how do you like it? Black or doctored? If there’s another beverage you prefer, tell me what it is and how you like it, too! Have a wonderful day, y’all!

As I sit here sipping my first cup of “Earl Grey, hot,” you have given me memories of days past and coffee. I remember those military days of drinking sludge, straight up. One does not doctor sludge coffee! 😀 However, after living in the home of Starbucks for about 10 years, I fell in love with the latte. Consequently, when hanging out at the local VFW, I do doctor their sludge (Yes, they make it from the beginning that way. I swear.) with a dash of cream. And yes, I do get yelled at for doctoring my sludge. But, generally, I stick to tea these days. Less caffeine and lots of healthful choices to chose from. Depends on what I am drinking whether I add to it. But the first couple of cups are “Earl Grey, hot” with nothing to detract from the taste. Cheers! Good Thoughts and positive energy! HUGS

Love coffee! Lightly doctored, many just cream or vanilla flavored cream.

I take my coffee black with some splendid that’s it for me

Not a coffee drinker. However enjoy my Hot Cinnamon Spice Tea either hot or cold sweetened with Belgian sugar when I can find it or regular sugar.

I like the smell of a good medium roast without all the added flavors and such but can’t stand the taste of any coffee. Weird but true. My mom does her one cup a day first thing in the morning before I ever get up and my daughter drinks the stuff all day warm or cold.

Never liked coffee… my sister is the coffee lover… I will stick with hot chocolate or soda.

I like coffee. Pretty much any kind of coffee. Seriously even coffee candies. These days I mostly drink ginger tea.

I do like coffee. That begins with the smell. I drink two cups a day – a whole milk flat white. Got to love the added calcium.

I like a mild coffee with a little milk and sugar in the morning then maybe in afternoon a coffee mocha (Coffee and Hot Chocolate) from Tim Horton’s.

I don’t drink coffee because when I do, I am like a rat on speed. My grandmother had a saying it was, I could thread a sewing machine running wide open. That is me. One small cup and I am so shaky that I can’t do anything.

Sorry, not a coffee fan. I love the smell but I hate the taste. 😢 Since the mid-80’s I’ve been drinking only water with an occasional vanilla milkshake. 😁

I do drink black coffee every morning. When I go to coffee shops though I order Caramel Frappachinos.

I make great coffee, but dislike the smell, and taste. I learned in the Navy, and usually asked to make it for others. Also not a fan of teas.
I like Hot Apple Cider, and the occasional hot chocolate.

I was told you had to develop a taste for coffee and so I tried it for one month. At the end, I said no way. I drink black teas like English Breakfast. I like it light with sweetener.

yes, both

Not a coffee drinker. Enjoy the occasional hot tea or diet soda, but mostly water.

I rarely drink coffee, and on the rare occasions that I do, it’s mostly mixed with chocolate and milk, LOL! During the cooler months, I drink a lot of hot water. When it’s hot, I like cool water or the occasional ginger beer…

OMG NO. I hate coffee. The biggest crime is that it does not taste like it smells. Brewing coffee smells great. I don’t drink as much tea as I used to. Give me water. I do drink hot chocolate and when I feel crappy, A mug of hot cherry koolaid or hot lemonade hits the spot.

I love coffee, I mean I love coffee, I mean I really, really love coffee. Did I say I love coffee? LOL But as you, I need to limit the intake. I can not drink it after 6pm. When I was a kid my mom would make, coffee-sugar-mil-the sweetest! I made it for my kids too. As I got older, I hit the espresso all day long. I long for those days now. So for now it is one cup in the morning, and maybe a little cappuccino in the afternoon. (Don’t tell the Italians, I think it is a sin.) Cheers to coffee and however we find happiness.
