Saturday Puzzle-Contest: Super Bowl Sunday!
Saturday, February 8th, 2025

UPDATE: The winner is…Flchen!
*~*~*

I’m not a huge football fan. I used to watch back in the day when my father was alive and huge Arkansas Razorbacks fan. The last time I followed pro ball was when Mike Ditka coached the Bears, and The Refrigerator and McMahon were the heroes of that game. Was that really forty years ago? I never so enjoyed a game, but that was it for me. Not sure why.

My family loves going to the high school and local college games. They love knowing the players and meeting up with friends to watch. The only time we gather for a pro ball game these days is for the Super Bowl. I’m embarrassed to say I’m there for the commercials. The girls love the half-time show, but we stay for the end—if the game is a nail-biter. We pick our sides and love ribbing each other when our favorite team makes a great play and scores.

However, if the power went out tomorrow night, we’d be okay. We’re not that invested. It’s just another chance to sit together and celebrate as a family and maybe eat some finger food (I’ll have to talk someone into hitting the grocery store for some goodies!).

How about you? Are you big fans? Who are you rooting for to win this time around? Are you gathering with friends and family or heading to a sports bar? Solve the puzzle then post your answers below for a chance to win a $5 Amazon gift card!

Watch for the commercials. Unless the game is close, do not pay attention.

I’m like you, I watched football with my dad. I went to football games with my dad. I understand football because of my dad. I’m a Detroit Lions fan because my dad was. My dad passed five years ago, this March and I think of him often when I’m watching football. The Lions didn’t make it into the Super Bowl so I will have it on his background noise while I read unless of course the game gets exciting score wise then I might get into it. But I will not be watching the halftime show. I’m a Drake fan.

I am watching the game. I am for KC. My cousin, Joe, was a QB with the 49ers, so loyalty moved from SF to KC where he played his last season before retiring. Otherwise, I root for the Steelers. I live south of Pittsburgh and worked in Pgh since 1988 until I was laid off.
I want to add, my dad was a Notre Dame fan, but hated the Steelers. He would root for girl scouts if they played Pgh. He hated the broadcasters always praised Bradshaw, but forgot to support the other 10 players.
I am home alone, not cooking anything special and I am in on a former work ‘pool’, so the numbers are important, too.
    Go KC!!!

KC Chiefs for win- not going out and probably won’t watch – I like football – used to love watching with my dad back in the day. Will glacé at it once and while if on but fine with seeing or reading the highlights. Georgia Bulldogs are on every time the play at our house but that’s all hubby and one son. I much prefer reading my books than watching anything on tv.

I don’t really follow as I once did. I got away from it & have no idea who any of the players are anymore. I might put it on for a bit just to see what’s happening. My daughter is a huge Eagles fan…the family has always cheered for them as long as I’ve been part of it. I’ll probably watch something I like & head for bed around 9 like usual.

I’m not into sports. My super bowl Sunday is spent reading snuggled in my chair with a soft blanket.

Not really a football fan. I never understood the game. I love to watch ice hockey, and sometimes baseball. I watched my daughter play volleyball, basketball, and some soccer too. Probably the only one watching will be my brother in his room. Some of friends are KC fans. Lions are out

I will have it on and may or may not pay attention to it depending on how the Eagles are doing and what else is on at the time.

I may see bits of it live, but probably mostly from snippets posted later – Sunday nights I watch PBS – right now that’s Miss Scarlet & All Creatures Great & Small.

I love football, and usually host my family and friends for a superbowl party with lots of finger food, but this year I had to work, I didn’t plan my vacation well enough to be off, LOL, I did get to see some of it at work and was disappointed the Chief’s didn’t win but it’s OK
