Saturday Puzzle-Contest: French Diary

UPDATE: The winner is…Rachelle Lerner!
*~*~*

Since we’re nearing the end of February, the month of romance, I thought I’d end it on a bit of a nostalgic note. Some of us kept diaries. I did when I was younger. I put my secrets in it. Talked about things I didn’t want to share with another soul.

Today’s puzzle image is a lovely, sepia-toned photo with hints of travel and love. I could have collected these things. How about you?

For a chance to win a $5 Amazon gift card, solve the puzzle, then tell me a story about what you see. Whose memories are encapsulated here? What happened to the lovers? Have fun with it!

This reminds me of the board in Sabrina. All those memories in Paris, then she came home and got together with the guy next to the garage. Lovely story.

What a sweet theme! I can envision this being a keepsake that their grandchildren find in the attic, and have a chance to see their grandparents in a different light.

I used to keep a journal for years, but haven’t for a couple decades now. Nothing so lovely or organized, for sure.

Keepsakes from many who have visited Paris in the past while in love. Hopefully they all git their own HEA.

They met in Paris, she was traveling with her family, he was there to refine his art. The fell in love and continued to write each other, unfortunately the love affair only continued on through their dreams, letters and postcards, as they never saw each other again. Young star crossed lovers never forgotten nor reunited. She ended up in a marriage arranged for the family’s business and he never married but poured everything into his art becoming a renowned artist, highly successful yet nevertheless tortured by the love he lost so many years ago.

This reminds me of a pen pal I had. I kept correspondence from him until I was married. I did get a chance to meet him but lost track of him and his relative who was a good friend. The correspondence in the puzzle is thru postcards vs letters but was saved by one of the people envolved.

A young girl was going through boxes in her parent’s attic and she found a photo book. She realized that her grandmother was married before her grandfather. Her grandfather was best friends with her first husband. (I’m feeling like a soap opera right now!)

As I opened my grandparents scrapbook, I drift into my memories of the stories they told of their love story as I grew up. I look up from memory lane and look at my husband across the room, and realize that we are in the middle of developing our own scrapbook of memories. The book is not as romantic as my grandparents, but what a wonderful trip down memory lane it will be for my grandchildren. I focus back on my husband and realize that he is standing there flipping me off because I am looking at him. In return I send the same jester back as we both look into each others eyes and laugh knowing what fun we will have later tonight.

First, that would make an awesome jigsaw puzzle.
The diary, photos, postcards and travel mementos were in a cloth wrapped flat package found in a secret compartment behind a drawer in a desk purchased at an estate sale.
After discovering it, the young couple read through everything. The timeless love story it told was like a movie unfolding in front of them. Determined this should not have been left behind in the desk, the couple went on a search to reunite the treasure to the owner.
After months of digging, the couple discovered the former owner was in a nearby nursing home, What’s more, the man was also a resident there. They visit, expecting them to be together, but neither knew their first love was there. Now in their 90s, the timeless couple marry, content to live out their lives finally together.
