Saturday Puzzle-Contest: Nostalgia in Old Photos + Open Contests!
Saturday, March 8th, 2025

I have a guest scheduled for tomorrow, so I’m cramming the contest list in with today’s puzzle post. I thought that for today’s post we might head down memory lane again.

In this age of digital photos, it’s gotten so convenient to store photos on a cloud. I know that, personally, it’s only a rare photo that I bother to have printed to put into a frame. And my old photo albums? I gave them to my daughter for her to sort through them for anything she cares to keep.

I do miss holding an actual camera in my hand, knowing I had only so many shots on a roll of film. I had to work hard to get everything right so I didn’t waste the shot. Then I had to wait until the photos were developed to know whether I’d been successful or had accidently overexposed the film. I took photographs of places all over Europe. Some looked like postcards they were so good. My prized possession was an old Minolta, which I loved, and traveled with it slung over my shoulder. After many moves, I no longer have the negatives of those old pictures, so a lost photo is forever gone.

My daughter inherited our family’s photos as well, of all those relatives we never met. She had to go to family online to figure out how they fit into the family tree. My mother kept boxes of photos that my dd is still sorting through.

So, I wonder if anyone misses the old albums or shoeboxes of photos. Do you still own an analog/non-digital camera? Do you still use it? Or does it gather dust like my collection of old cameras that lives at the top of a shelf? Answer for a chance to win a $5 Amazon gift card! Enjoy the puzzle!

One of the things on my never-ending to-do list is to organize and then scan all of the photos we have in albums and boxes. My hubby has several albums, and I have more, plus boxes of old family photos, including a few old metal plate images–my aunt gave me one big box eons ago when my kids were little that belonged to my grandma, and then after she died and I was cleaning out the house, I found so many more. lol It’s going to be a years-long project to organize them, and I’m sure there are people in there I’ll never identify. But I love looking at them anyway.

Yes, I love the old photos, books or not. Photographers 📸 kid, yes I believe I still have at least one film Camera around in my packed boxes. Find film isn’t as easy as it used to be. Plus my issues was loading film. But I absolutely love to take pictures all the time. Also love getting my hands on old ones. Love history.

Oh yes. I have several styles of loadable cameras. Some probably still have film in them. Can’t find any places to develop them. I have several disposable ones that also need developing. I have boxes of photos. I started cataloging them and the negatives. On the envelope for negatives, I numbered 1-1, 1-2, 1-3…1st number is roll number, 2nd matches the negative. The same number is on the back of each corresponding photo. If I wanted a print of a photo, all I have to do is go to the proper envelope and get the negative strip. Now if only someone developed them.

I’m also the keeper of family photos. I know most of the people because I have an exceptional memory of the long ago past. I can’t remember why I walked into a room but anything that happened more than 10 years ago. I can remember like it was yesterday.

Maybe in 10 years I’ll remember why I went into that room

I still have my old 35mm Olympus camera from around 1980 and some instamatic types – haven’t used ay of them in years, but haven’t taken the time to do anything with them yet. Also some old cameras from the 30’s/40’s went to my nephew.

Yes, we have several analog cameras but never use them. I even have an old Browning that was my grandmothers. On my to do list is organize pictures and send some to relatives to be saved.

I still have two film cameras. The 3D is cool but I can’t find a developer. My much loved film camera got some sand in the lens and I never got it repaired. I use only a digital camera or my phone now. Someday I want to go back to film.

A few years ago we collated all of the photos into albums. We love to get them out and browse through. We have separate albums for each overseas trip too.
