I’m taking a break today from cruise pictures to wish you all a very Merry Christmas! ~DD
If you post a comment today, you’ll be in the running
for a free download of this book!
Today, I’m giving you an excerpt from my one and only holiday story. Silent Knight was released in December 2005 by Ellora’s Cave and exists in the My Immortal Knight realm.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
From eCataRomance: “…The perfect holiday read! Delilah Devlin took a Christmas tale to a whole new level when she crafted SILENT KNIGHT.”
From Romance Divas: “…[SILENT KNIGHT] is a sizzling hot vampire story tht will take you on a short escape — the perfect read for a busy holiday season. Sexy and fun, make sure Silent Knight is on your holiday “must read” list!”
From A Romance Review: “Erotically decedent and thrillingly carnal, Noelle and Magnus’ story is enough to make a person self-combust with want.”
In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Noelle Moyaux questions her gift of sight until a chance encounter with a mysterious stranger sets her on a path to save his soul.
Magnus Thornton is a millennium-old vampire who has found evidence of an old foe’s evil at work in the demolished city of New Orleans. Weary of the fight, he decides to greet the coming dawn after a night reveling in his favorite things—a bottle of Bordeaux and a willing woman.
Noelle seems the answer, but she quickly creeps into his heart-the vampire, so jaded from life he never speaks, must now persuade Noelle to flee the city before it’s too late.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Noelle Moyaux flicked off the battery-powered Christmas lights that ringed her metal cart, folded her purple tablecloth into a small tidy square and tucked it and the folding table inside the cart before latching the lid closed.
She wheeled the cart across the busy street and waved to her friend Gerard, the owner of a small Cajun restaurant. Continuing around the back of the eatery, she stowed her palmistry kiosk in the storage unit she’d rented from Gerard since before the troubles.
Today’s earnings were slim, despite the unseasonably warm weather that allowed the thin-blooded residents of the city to roam the streets in light jackets. No one believed in a future amid the chaos—and some questioned her ability since she’d received no divination of the coming catastrophe. Indeed, Noelle questioned her gift daily as she sat beneath her umbrella in front of the embroidered cloth advertising “Noelle’s News”.
If not for the little nest egg of money she’d saved from substitute teaching before the flood, she’d be in dire straits.
Clutching her purse close to her side, she headed down the street toward home.
One last night. One last chance to lose myself in The Hunger, a fine glass of wine and the body of a willing woman. Before my last sunrise—the first I will see in nearly a thousand years…
Noelle heard the quiet, fleeting thought as she passed through the crowd ambling along Bourbon Street and spun to find the owner. The inner voice that accompanied the thought was masculine and raspy. Added to the familiar spark of connection when her skin had brushed against his was a wash of the blackest melancholy she’d ever sensed. It nearly drowned her in despair.

Today, I’m giving you an excerpt from my very first cowboy book. Ride a Cowboy was released in February 2006 by Ellora’s Cave and has since appeared in two print compilations.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
From The Romance Studio: “…Ooooh is this hot! So very descriptive in the sheer need to be loved, to be not only desired sexually by the other. Proving to Katelyn that all men aren’t like her ex, Daniel gives of himself without any hesitation. What a man! This is a keeper, fellow readers, and not just for those dedicated “sexy cowboy” fans.”
From Romance Divas: “…This is one book I could not put down from beginning to end!…I have to compliment Ms. Devlin on her writing prowess. She roped this reviewer with her playground of words, expertise of emotional perception, and exceptional writing ability.”
Katelyn Carter came to rural Texas to lick her wounds and start over after her failed marriage, but a sexy young cowboy seems determined to show her that love is still in the cards for this single librarian.
Sheriff’s deputy Daniel Bodine answers a 911 call to remove a rattlesnake from his new neighbor’s bedroom. What he finds is an embarrassed Katelyn, dressed in little more than her pretty pink blushes. One little omission later, and he’s working for the lady as her handyman.
Burned once by a man, Katelyn fights her growing attraction but finds Daniel more temptation than she can resist. When he shows her he knows his way around a woman’s body as well as he does a hammer and a saw, she takes a walk on the nasty side, vainly hoping she can keep her heart free of entanglement
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Daniel’s chest rose and his jaw tightened. His thumb pressed inside her mouth and she sucked it. With a sharply drawn breath, he bored his gaze into hers. “Tell me you don’t want me to kiss you, Katelyn.”
He’d said the words—torn away the flimsy barrier between unspoken yearning and surrender. She shook her head. “I…can’t.”
His hands cupped her face, gentle and reverent, as he leaned closer. His breath was sweet and brushed her lips first, prompting her to open her mouth. When his lips slid over hers, he murmured and closed his eyes.
Now, Katelyn had shared many kisses in her life. But Daniel’s tasted sweeter, made her feel cherished, even beautiful. His fingers threaded through her hair and he pulled her head closer for a deeper joining.

Next week I’ll be setting sail for the Eastern Caribbean. One of the things I’ll be taking along to work on is the next chapter of Cat Tails: Bad Moon Rising.
If you haven’t read chapter one, you need to do it now. Then come back here and let me know who DiDi gets busy with! Leave a comment to let me know how you like the story so far. If you have additional suggestions for how you want to see the scene play out, be sure to add those comments too. I’m standing by, ready to please!
I know gut insinct will be to go for the whole enchilada. But think about how you want the story to unfold. Whatever you decide, I’ll write it that way because I’m easy—just like my alter ego DiDi Devereux.

Psst! Check here tomorrow for the next CAT TAILS poll!
I have a ton of things to do today. Mainly, get to the tailor shop with those new jeans. The shorts were too short, the regulars too long. It’s a curse being 5’4″—you’re neither petite or average.
Oh, did I even tell you about the jeans? You know I have a cruise coming up, right? And that I’ve been dieting. My old jeans are falling off my ass. So I went to town to shop. I entered my favorite store and headed to the women’s section (okay, so I call it the fat ladies section—not PC, but when you’re heavy you like to go for the shock and instant smile when you ask the skinny-assed clerk to tell you where it is!). A tall, LOVELY black lady walked up to me, saw the size 16 jeans I held and shook her head. “Uh-uhn, girl, you need booty jeans!”
She walked me to MISSES and gave me stacks of jeans in sizes I just knew I wouldn’t get past my thighs—but damn! I’d dropped 3-5 numbers on the sizes. I haven’t been this thin since Dr. Evil radiated my thyroid!
I’d like to get some pages in today, but I’m still decompressing from NaNo. I might just get online and promo the hell out Raw Silk. What can I say about it? “Four-ple!” Funny! Sexy! All pale, pale words for the adventure that awaits you.
Just click on the picture of the cover and you can have your own copy! I hope you enjoy the story. I had fun writing it! If you want to read an excerpt, follow this link: Read More

Today deserves two squeals. Maybe even three.
If you stopped by my blog during November, you know that I entered the annual NaNoWriMo challenge—thousands of writers banding together to get 50,000 words on paper. I made it yesterday with a little help from my friends who wouldn’t let me fail.
During November, I finished one novella (which I’ve already contracted with Ellora’s Cave), a proposal for a major publisher, the first chapter of my free read, the first two chapters of another proposal and the first five chapters of a second novella for Ellora’s Cave.
Not too shabby at all even if I do say so myself. And besides a slight headache, stiff fingers and a numb butt, I’m feeling pretty good about everything I accomplished. Yay, me!
The little tiny squeal is for the thirty pounds I’ve managed to shave off my plump physique this year. Yeah, it took a whole dang year to do it, but today I’m heading to the stores to shop for skinny pants for my cruise. Okay, still not so skinny, but I’m weighing in on the pleasant side of plump now. And I don’t have a thing to wear that I’m not dragging up over my ass a dozen times of day—because they are falling off!
The second major squeal is for my new very naughty release tomorrow, RAW SILK. Take a peek inside.
A wicked, no-strings one-night stand turns unexpectedly complicated when three lonely hearts collide…
Camille sacrificed romance for success long ago. Now that the lingerie company she and her best friend built is hugely successful, she has a few regrets. Wanting to let down her hair and explore the possibilities, she agrees to meet a man at a bar for drinks only to wind up needing help when she rebuffs his sexual overtures.
Jake and Daniel are two firefighters hitting the bar for a quick drink after a long shift when they see a classy beauty fending off an overzealous boyfriend. With a flex of biceps they chase him off then settle in to seduce the lovely woman whose eyes reflect a hunger they understand all too well.
What starts as a simple, pleasurable one-night stand, quickly burns up the sheets. While Jake knows he can’t let Camille crush their relationship because of age differences, Daniel still thinks he can walk—until he gets a whiff of Camille’s best friend Lacey. Suddenly three isn’t enough.
Reader Advisory: Burning up the sheets is putting it mildly! Inhibitions are out the door with scenes of m/f/m, m/f/m/f, f/f and m/m.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Camille’s hands shook as she inserted the key in her apartment door. The two burly men flanking her hadn’t given her an inch of space to breathe, hadn’t left her alone a single moment to rethink this plan.
It had all happened so fast. One minute her focus was Malcolm and the contract his company had been on the verge of offering. Then in the blink of an eye, she’d been seduced away from her purpose by two slick firefighters with bodies to die for. Was she really going to make love with both of them? Was she that desperate?
The lock clicked. Jake reached around her and shoved open the door.
She shouldn’t have been excited by the urgency his action telegraphed. Alarm would have been a more natural reaction, but she did like the way he took charge. How long had it been since a man did anything other than follow her politely inside?

For those of you who love cowboys, and those who think a true ménage is just divine, tomorrow will bring a sweet new treat.
Tough…or tender? If she plays her cards right, she won’t have to choose.
Dani Standifer arrives home at her West Texas family ranch a day early, ready to pick up where she left off with Rowe Ayers, her high school sweetheart. However, when she opens the door to their line-shack trysting place, it’s clear she waited a day too long. Rowe’s with someone else—another man. And not just any other man—Justin Cruz, the bad boy with whom she shared one wild encounter, years ago.
Justin’s waited a long time for this moment. He knows his reputation, but since he seduced Rowe, he’s been a one-man cowboy—waiting for Dani to return and become the delicious fulfillment of his and Rowe’s needs. If she’s up to the challenge.
To her own surprise, Dani finds she’s more than ready to have both men in her life—as soon as she and Rowe teach Justin a lesson or two about love.
Their small town may not be ready for their kind of relationship. And Dani’s brother Cutter’s mile-deep grudge against Justin throws in a complication that could break the foundation the three of them have built…
Warning: Hold on for the rodeo of your life with rough ridin’ male on male action; blazing hot m/m/f scenes; and melt-your-panties lovin’ as each of these sexy cowboys gives it the way they know best to turn their woman inside out.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Justin let himself and Dani into Rowe’s darkened foyer and, with a hand at her back, guided her through the living room and down the hallway toward the bedroom at the end of the long corridor.
Rowe’s house wasn’t as large as Dani’s. Just a plain old-fashioned ranch house, single-storied, a white clapboard exterior with a porch stretching along the front. The interior wasn’t fancy, but the furnishings were sturdy, well made. A far cry from the cheap cinder block and plain pine furniture he’d grown up with. This time, his gaze didn’t roam the rooms, cataloging the differences.
Light fanned into the hallway from the crack of an open door. Dani’s steps slowed.
“You know what’s gonna happen tonight…” he whispered, wondering if she was getting cold feet.
“Think I’m gonna back down?”
Justin drew a deep breath, warning himself to slow down. “Anytime you get nervous or scared…”
One pale brow arched. “You’ll stop?
