I love to plug authors I really enjoy, because it’s rare these days for me find a book I can really get lost in. I’ve become really picky over the years. So, when I was cruising one of my new favorite author’s website a few weeks ago and saw mention that she had a Harlequin Desire coming out, I had to give it read.
First off, I haven’t read a Desire in a long, long time because what I remember of the stories was all vomity angst, which I don’t do. I mean, if a man does you wrong, bitch-slap him and move on. But I was willing to suspend prejudice and try this one because I really do like this author.
Well, the book arrived the day before yesterday and I eagerly broke open the package. Since I’d finished my pages for the day, I thought I’d sit down and read a chapter or two before I went to bed. Big mistake! I ended up staying up late to finish it.
The book is Maya Banks’ The Tycoon’s Pregnant Mistress. Yes, it has one of those titles I roll my eyes at, but what’s inside the same-o red cover isn’t what I expected at all.
Well, sure, it still had a handsome billionaire for a hero—like that’s ever gonna happen to a nice girl who has worked hard to get her own education. He also has the requisite strapping brothers who will undoubtedly have their own stories coming soon. But the relationship that develops between the hero and heroine has very relatable conflicts. I understood his motivations and emotions, and I totally got hers. There’s an amnesia thing going on, but hey, it is a Harlequin. The sex was completely, utterly sublime.
So, if you are looking for a quick read, something that’s sexy and satisfying—I highly recommend the book. You won’t be disappointed. This is my third MB book, and every one has been a keeper.

Here’s a sneak peek at Texas Men, my February release from Kensington.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Welcome to Honkytonk, the hottest town in Texas—thanks to its adventurous women, irresistible men, and sizzling sex…
Bound and Determined
Bar owner Tara Toomey is in the mood to serve bad boy Cody Westhofen more than a drink. What better way to capture his attention—and more—than to kidnap him for a wanton weekend? Tied to Tara’s bed, Cody is more than willing to cooperate…
Breezy Ridin’
When Joe Chavez and a sheriff’s deputy pull over a speeding motorcycle, it’s no surprise the county judge’s naughty daughter Sarah Michelson is behind the wheel—naked. And when she bribes them with a threesome, all laws are suspended as the men prepare for the ride of their lives…
Night Watch
Schoolteacher Amy Keating never planned to be a voyeur, but one innocent glance into deputy Logan Ross’s bedroom window has her hooked. Now she’s into a world of sexual play she never knew existed…
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Note for Readers: You must be of legal age in your country of origin to read this excerpt.
A hot breeze toyed with a strand of hair lying across her breast, but Sarah Michelson wasn’t about to flick it away now. She was already in deep shit and wondering whether she should pour on the syrup and sweet talk the two officers striding her way.
She’d been driving without her headlight, following the pale gray thread of road she’d driven since she’d graduated to adulthood until she hit the winding canyon and had to flip it on. A quick drive-by of the bar and she would have proven she was still the reigning bad girl of Honkytonk.
Then she’d seen the glint of metal at the side of the road and throttled down.
Damn, who knew she’d run into a speed trap on little ole Amman Road?
“Ma’am, I’ll need to see your license and registration.”
Sarah squinted against the spotlight aimed at her from the squad car parked beside the sawhorse barrier and shot a glare at the deputy who’d halted beside her. That glare was signature “Sarah” and would have had most men backing up half a dozen paces. To his credit, Joe Chavez didn’t flinch, but neither did he crack a smile.
So that’s the way he wanted to play it. She could pretend there wasn’t a thing unusual about this particular traffic stop, too. “Officer, I seem to have misplaced it,” she said, dropping her voice to a sultry purr.
“Forgot a few other things as well,” the other deputy Logan Ross drawled, coming close enough she could make out his features in the bright light.
What were they—a tag team?

Here’s a sneak peek at one of my March releases, Obsessed, which is being published by Simon and Schuster’s Strebor Books line. Keep in mind it’s unedited, so all errors are my own.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
On an uncharacteristic whim, an obsessive, uptight woman vacations at an island resort where she learns to surrender to her disorderly, capricious, and wanton inner self.
Briana’s pristine life has recently gone downhill after she realized her perfect marriage was a sham. Weighed down by the burdens of her impending divorce, this “starter wife” calls the number printed on a postcard for a limited-time offer at an exotic island retreat. Upon arriving at the fantasy sex resort, Briana is confronted with all of her old hang-ups. Desperately wanting to change, she throws herself into the wildly erotic pleasures presented to her—freeing herself from her heartbreaking past and the inhibitions that have always held her back in life.

Briana felt as though a vise tightened around her ribcage. She couldn’t breathe. She stood frozen, staring into his impassive face.
Malaki held out the package, and she lifted her arms automatically to receive it.
“Tell me what frightens you most,” he said quietly, his arms falling to his sides. “Being virtually naked in front of this crowd?”
Numb with shock, she was surprised she could manage to speak. “That prospect is certainly unnerving.” Gawd, what a dumb thing to say. And a huge fricking understatement!
“But it’s not the scariest part, is it?”
Her vision blurred as tears began to fill her eyes. Now he’d get an even bigger dose of the weirdness that was her. “Touching them…I’m afraid to touch them.”
“You touched me,” he said, firmness underlying his gentle tone.
That caught her attention. “Yes, I did.”
“I’m as much a stranger to you as any of them. Why do you think you could take my hand and accept my caress?”
“Because I wanted it so damn much,” she whispered, humiliated to admit it.
“Then want this.”

My very, very good friend, Layla Chase, has her first release out today with Ellora’s Cave. It’s also the first of four books in the Altered States series that Layla, Betty Hanawa, Myla Jackson and myself are participating in. If you like stories about large cat shape-shifters, you’re gonna love this series!!
Night Prowler By Layla Chase
Tall, muscled and naked — that’s private investigator Zoia’s first sighting of her quarry, a missing soldier named Kol. The fact he’s pleasuring himself is even more intriguing but within minutes she becomes his prey. He stalks her, arousing every female instinct she possesses, and then claims her—carnally. When Zoia learns Kol is battling a situation he doesn’t understand, her need to help surfaces.
Kol has holed up in his family’s cabin to learn the cause of his unsettling blackouts. The appearance of a vivacious nature photographer sets off his radar. Within minutes, Zoia invades his space — and her sweet body becomes his lifeline back from unexplained memory lapses. Can their growing attachment survive the discovery of his startling secret?
Next up:
Betty Hanawa’s Beast Within in January
Myla Jackson’s Naked Prey in February
Delilah Devlin’s Unleashing the Tiger in March

Okay, so this is strictly for writers—published and aspiring.
If you don’t already know, my sister and I teach a plotting bootcamp through Rose’s Colored Glasses.
We know there are a slew of plotting classes out there, but I’ll tell you how ours is different and why we have people who have taken the class multiple times.
Sure, we define theme, plot a story, and develop characters—all plotting classes do that. What we provide that is unique is feedback and critique throughout the process.
Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t a week-long brush through the basics kind of course. The bootcamp stretches over a month with lessons posted on a Sunday, daily discussion via yahoo group, and live brainstorming chats two to three times a week. It’s up the student how much they want to participate and they can set their own pace, but like I said, we’ve had people so pleased with their results, they come back again and again.
So, the big news is that we’re conducting the next class starting January 5th. The class is limited to 25 people—any more than that and we wouldn’t be able to provide the one-on-one feedback. If you’re interested in signing up, here’s the link: Rose’s Plotting Bootcamp
(And FYI, my mom drew the picture!)

Here’s a sneak peak at the second story in Texas Men, due out in March 2009. Keep in mind this excerpt is very, very naughty and involves a spanking bench, two sexy cops, a plug…well, you’ll see.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
“No use fighting. You’ll injure yourself, baby.”
“I’m not your baby.”
“Not yet, but you’ll be my playmate for the rest of tonight anyway. You agreed. You stepped across that threshold.”
“I’ve changed my mind. I want it out now. And I’m gonna shove that goddamn plug up your ass, bastard.”
“You’re just a little scared, aren’t you kitten?” Logan said.
Sarah lifted her head, and then held it erect as she watched Logan strip off his tee. His chest was massive, muscled slabs arranged in layers like sedimentary stone. Dark hair, thick and slightly wavy furred his tanned chest nipple to nipple, then arrowed downward to disappear into his jeans.
