UPDATE: The winner is…Jennifer Beyer! ‘Tis the Season! I have lots of fun stuff planned for the days I host this blog this month. Today, it’s your turn to tell me a story! See the picture below? Isn’t it pretty? Don’t you wish you were standing in the freezing cold, snow coming down all around you, and a handsome man is bending toward you… Uh-huh. Yup. Bet you’re there, too. But what happened to get the couple there? Tell me the story! Doesn’t have to be long. Doesn’t even have to be good. I’ll randomly choose a commenter to win a $10 Amazon gift card! So, have fun! UPDATE: The winner is…Becca B! I’m falling behind and behinder! Yes, things are crazy here. We have mom health issues going on, for which everyone is pitching in. My dd is leaving on a cruise, so I’m moving across the street to watch dogs and cats (11 in all—plus a Guinea Pig!). I have editing jobs lining up, one right after the other. I need to begin a new book or finish an old short story. Doesn’t matter which—I need to write words! And I’m making Christmas gifts, but not fast enough! Everything store bought is bought, but I like to add some pretties to stockings, but production is sloooooow… So, yes, holiday stress is running high. So…I thought a puzzle would be nice. Something sweet to remind us of how it feels when the holiday finally arrives. Enjoy a moment of peace. And then, comment below, telling me what has you stressed or if you’re made of steel nerves and aren’t stressed at all! I’ll do a random pick and send the commenter the download of their choice from among my 200 releases! Sunday, December 1st, 2019
UPDATE: The winner is…Patricia Barraclough! Diana Cosby ©2019
Gifts come in many shapes and sizes, but I believe the most precious ones are those delivered from the heart. It’s easy to get caught up in the mayhem of life, particularly during the hustle and bustle of the Holidays, but every day, there are people amidst the chaos who help you, who take time out of their busy lives to make a difference in yours. This year, why not return that gift? This holiday season, as wrapped gifts exchange hands, I ask you to pause, reflect on those who’ve truly made a difference in your life, and if possible, find a special way to say thank you. This can be a simple gesture—something like a greeting card, a bouquet of flowers, or a heartfelt poem. Maybe you could bake someone their favorite cookies? Or, present them a coupon book filled with everyday chores, which they can tear out and give you to do on those trying days when they need a helping hand. The absolute best gift you can offer another person is one given from the heart. And when special-delivered, without any strings attached, it touches their own. This Christmas, I’m making gift baskets filled with my favorite homemade things, such as macadamia-butterscotch chip cookies, shortbread, double chocolate-orange-pecan biscotti, Vermont maple syrup, and more. With each one, I’m sharing a part of myself with the other person. What ideas can you think of? Remember—the more original and inventive, the more fun! I can’t wait to hear your ideas! My gift to you, one of my favorite recipes: SEATHAN MACGRUDER’S MACADAMIA BUTTERSCOTCH COOKIESIngredients: Directions: In a large bowl mix butter, sugar, and brown sugar, then whip in the Amaretto (or vanilla) and peanut butter. Beat in eggs. Add baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Once mixed, add butterscotch chips and macadamia nuts. Mix in flour. Chill dough. Bake: Cool and enjoy! Author’s note: I sincerely wish everyone health, friendship and happiness this holiday season. ContestONE winner will be drawn from everyone who posts on my guest blog post about, ‘Giving The Gift of Thanks,’ on Delilah’s blog between 1 December 2019 – 8 December 2019. The winner will receive one of Diana’s mugs and a tote.

Contests Still Open!
UpdateThis is a weird holiday season. Mom went into the hospital last Friday and is still there. Doctors have to perform a surgery, but they’ve been trying to get her heart to behave before they do, so here we are, crossing our fingers it will happen today. In the meantime, company is beginning to roll in. One brother arrived today. He’s going to do most of the cooking, so he’s already pitching in grocery shopping, etc. Another brother comes in late tonight. A cousin tomorrow. We hope all goes well and mom will be home for Thanksgiving, but if not, we may be delivering her meal to the hospital (PG, everything go well). As for me. I’m not a cook. I managed to cook a chicken in the crock pot to use in the dressing, but that’s as far as anyone trusts me to muddle in the kitchen. I’m still recovering from a nearly month-long illness, but at least I have my voice back. I am late on delivering edits to a client-friend, and feel awful about it, but it’s been insane around here. I’m doing what I can in short bouts to get through them. And of course, there is no time for new words. sigh All the kids are out of school, so they are constantly underfoot. Lots of noise. Not that that is a bad thing, mind you, but it does add to the surreal vibe of this week. Anyway, here’s hoping your week is more joyous than mine, so far. Let me know if you’ve got holiday plans! UPDATE: The winner is…Fedora! Now that I’ve survived the madness of drafting and editing my latest book release, I’ve moved into the promotion stage. I always try to incorporate my love of beading and crafting into my giveaways and promotions. This year, I’m working on easy-peasy stamped ornaments. All you need are stamping tools (stamps, hammer, base to stamp on), flat washers, a permanent black marker (optional) & rubbing alcohol, and some thin ribbon. The washers I’m using are 0.5” (inside opening width) x 1” (width of the outside of the circle) Zinc-plated standard, flat washers.
All you need to do to make your ornaments is stamp a very short message around the circle of the washer. I like to leave a small gap at the “top” of the circle where the ribbon will wrapped, but that’s not necessary. In my example I stamped a few with “Let It Snow” and others with “Believe”. You may have to practice a bit to get the spacing just right. Once you’ve finished stamping you can color over the letters with a black permanent marker to fill in the grooves you stamped to make the letters stand out. But be prepared to quickly wipe the surface with a paper towel or cotton ball dampened with the rubbing alcohol to get the excess marker off. I’ve found with these zinc washers if you let the marker dry, it’s much harder to get the excess black ink off. You can repeat the process if you take too much ink out of the grooves. Now, you’re ready to add a length of ribbon to act as the ornament hanger. You can also add a bead or charm for extra decoration. You can also use a large jump ring instead of the ribbon if you would rather use the washer as a jewelry charm for a necklace, bracelet, or key ring. Have fun with it! Be sure to check out my new release, Christmas Royale! This is a busy post, but hang in there! Contests still open! So, yes, I have a new contest for you today, but I thought you might like a reminder that there are still more prizes to be won! Go enter today!
Real LifeI’ve had a bad cough since right before Halloween. I’ve had laryngitis for the last ten days. I still have to shout-whisper to be heard. And now, I have pleurisy and my ribs ache like I was kicked by a mule. But I am getting better. I’m not sleeping all day like I was. I’m not coughing quite as much, and it is breaking up. As if that’s not enough to deal with, I noticed that my mother looked like a Simpson. Her skin tone turned a bright yellow overnight, it seemed. My dd took her to the emergency room, and they transported her to the big city hospital in Little Rock yesterday. My aunt is camped out in her room there. My dd placed her oldest girl in our house to help me out while mom is gone, and we’re all trying to get ready for company that is descending this week for Thanksgiving. Do you think we’re a little stressed out? As for writing, there hasn’t been any of that this month. It’s hard to be creative when you feel like hell. I have been editing, so I haven’t been a complete bum. 🙂 And that’s where I’m at. I hope you all are doing better than the Devlins are at the moment! One cool thing. Just when I was feeling my worst, I received a package from my author-friend, Diana Cosby! She sent me not one, but two lovely mugs! I’ve been drinking honeyed tea from them! Aren’t they pretty? Thank you so much, Diana! Flashback: Bound & Determined (Contest–2 Winners!)Comment on this post to win your choice of one of the books in the Texas Cowboys series!
