Feeling antsy
Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

Maybe because I played with the Tarot cards last night.

I asked a question regarding a proposal I have out at the moment. I ask this question once a week, and so far, the cards have told me to be patient.

Last night, I drew the Queen of Wands. Since, I’m still learning, I went to the book. The answer was ambiguous. Someone else holds my fate in their hands. So I interpret it to be the editor—and was it coincidence that the card depicts a blonde woman? I think not. This particular editor is both.

I drew another card, the Six of Wands, to see what her answer would be. And it said absolutely yes! So now I have it on great authority and all I have to do is wait. 😉

Life Path #3 for me

Get your FREE Astroprofile

Tell me you can resist an offer like that. It popped up on my screen when I was checking my ho-hum horoscope, so I followed it for kicks. I filled out the little application and voila! Five minutes later I had a free profile in my inbox. My horoscopes are never very accurate—I’m so not your typical Cancer—but the numerology aspect of the report was interesting…

Your Life-Path number is probably the most influential numerological aspect to be considered and represents who you are at the time of birth. It indicates specific traits and will likely be active and influential throughout your lifetime. It is the overall number that determines much of what will be important to you and how you will handle things as they come.

THREE, your life is likely to be characterized by the undying need for expression. This can take the form in conversation but also in the arts. Typically, the THREE has an above-average ability in some art form. This can encompass painting, interior decorating, crafts, writing, music, drama, or all of the above. You are an original and creative thinker, and tend to dominate your circles intellectually. With the elegance of a dancer, you swing back and forth from one idea to another, with wit and eloquence. You also have the power to visualize your ideas, and express them scientifically. Since you identify yourself with your ideas, your most dynamic form of expression is intellectual.

You are sprightly and versatile, and usually end up being the life of every party. Mostly it is you, who gets up on the table and entertains everyone with an improvised one-man show. You feel most alive if you have an audience, are the center of attention, and get an immediate reaction to your mental and verbal output.

Yeah, that’s me. Follow the link and see what the Internet God has to say about you!

Progress on Unbroken

First, thanks to everyone who has purchased Stone’s Embrace! This “starving artist” is very grateful and dying to know what you thought and whether you’d like to see more stories set in that realm!

My sister is visiting through Sunday morning, so I’ve been a ghost online. Today, we headed to Little Rock to watch the latest Harry Potter. I know it’s getting great reviews, but maybe I wasn’t in the mood. I got a little bored waiting for something wicked to happen and was very annoyed with all the “snogging” going on. Maybe it’s just me. My sister loved it, but then again, she loves the stories. I haven’t read even one of the books yet—yeah, I know I’m one of the few people on the planet who hasn’t.

Did see a trailer for a movie I’m dying to see—Sherlock Holmes, coming Christmas. Robert Downey, Jr. has the starring role; Jude Law is Mr. Watson. And it looks AWESOME.

Since Sis will be underfoot for a while, I doubt I’ll have a chance to post for a couple of days. I’ll leave you with a question I’m curious to see how you’ll answer!

If you were given the opportunity to be an apprentice to any person, living or deceased, from whom would you want to learn?

My choice would be Anne Rice before she found God. 😈

A Random Excerpt
Thursday, July 16th, 2009

Because I’m feeling a little lazy today, I’m posting a random excerpt. Keep in mind, it’s unedited, so any typos or poor word choices are entirely my fault! And because it’s sexy, you better be old enough to read it! 😛

*~*~*~*~*~*~*

The meager light from the dash didn’t pierce the intimate silence that settled inside the cab of Justin’s truck. Dani snuggled close to Justin all the way to Rowe’s ranch. His hand smoothed along her side, sliding under her arm to cup her breast and squeeze. She lifted her arm to give him access. Then his hand glided down, right between her legs, and she eased her thighs apart.

“Should have worn a damn skirt,” he grumbled.

She laughed and unbuckled her belt, opened her pants and eased back, giving him room to sneak his hand inside.

Progress on HALTERED

That big-ass contest widget is finally gone from my blog! Tomorrow, I’ll name the winners of the contest—and start another contest to celebrate the release of Stone’s Embrace!

So, today I’m just playing catch-up.

I updated my website yesterday. Swam twice. Started a new online class (I’m leading it with my sister), but didn’t write a single, solitary word.

The hero of my latest work is an asshole, and he’s just one in a string of assholes I’ve been writing. Says something about my personal life, I think. Maybe it’s time for some changes there so I can write a nicer guy.

And I hate that title—HALTERED. I already published Saddled, and just turned in BRIDLED. I wanted another one-word title, but HALTERED isn’t doing anything for me. It reminds me of pony sex and that’s not where this story’s going. 😆

Do you have any great title suggestions for me?

See you tomorrow with the names of the winners and the start of the new contest!

Faeries, a Prediction, and a Lover's Moon
Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

I had an interesting day yesterday. Spent it in an emergency room rather than with my friends talking Donald Maas. The red-headed hellion is fine, but has a very nice goose egg on her head to go along with the pretty bruises up and down her back.

I did finally start working on my TBR pile. I’m doing my best to conquer Katharine Briggs’s The Fairies in Tradition and Lore. It reads like a textbook but is filled with a huge world of fairy stories. I’m hoping to find that spark of an idea…

And while surfing the other day, looking for some online Tarot instruction since I bought this pack of cards and the book that accompanies it sucks, I found a site that does FREE one-card readings. I submitted my question. Here’s the lovely response I got from “Moonbug”, my spirit guide:

Thank you so much for visiting me at the Free Tarot Network! I am happy to provide you a free one-card reading about your question: ‘Will I get another New York publishing contract before the year is out?’

What I like to do when inquiring of Spirit is to let them take the lead.
Rather than directly asking for a “yes” or “no” about the future, I prefer to ask in this way: ‘What would Spirit like for Deloris to know about her upcoming publishing venture?’ In this way, you allow for the “yes” or “no” if it is in your highest good to be presented to you, but it also allows for the possibility of additional information that may be of benefit about the journey of your contract process. Does that make sense?

So away we go! Before we begin, find a nice place where you can relax and receive the information quietly. Sit comfortably, uncrossing your feet and hands, and then close your eyes and draw in 3 big, deep breaths. Okay, that’s great.

I have drawn the 4 of Swords for you, which is so beautiful—I immediately felt a sense of peace. Swords are the suit of communication and 4 is a number of strength and foundation, so I can see you are in the right field.

Our maiden in the card (that would be you!) rests peacefully, while one sword stands readily at her guard, and the others hang and whisper gently in the evening breeze. The trees create a graceful arch of blossoms overhead, and in the distance, we see a shining star – to me, almost like the north star. I believe this is your contract, my dear.

This card speaks to me, not only of patience, but also of rest. Perhaps you have been working too hard. Take the time to smell the roses (they surround you, as you rest in this picture)! Get out and enjoy life a little this summer, and recapture that basic love that made you want to start writing in the first place. I have found that no matter what the profession, it always pays to go back to the basics.

Rekindle the roots of your fire and nurture the divine feminine in you, and I think your contract will present itself sometime in the fall . . . when the winds begin to blow.

Peace & blessings,
Moonbug

So you heard it from “Spirit”. Good news should come in the Fall. And I signed up to join the network so that I can do one-card readings under a mentor. Should I tell him I’m a newbie? Maybe we could have fun with readings on my blog or during our monthly chat!

And according to The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Wicca and Witchcraft, the June moon brings love, marriage (now, we know why women want those June weddings!), and success. So see there? I have double the good news today!
