UPDATE: The winner is…Amy Fendley!
*~*~*
Do you believe the spirit continues after death
and can communicate with the living?
This is a different question than asking if you believe in ghosts. Ghosts are often considered lingering echoes of a personality or energy tied to a place. Spiritualists, on the other hand, believe that when we die, our personalities transition to another plane of existence and can sometimes communicate with the living. Mediums claim they can contact these spirits and pass on messages to loved ones.
One town in central Florida that has become a hub for such beliefs is Cassadaga. Known by some as the “Psychic Capital of the World,” it’s a fascinating place for those curious about the paranormal. In Cassadaga, you can book a session with a psychic or medium, get your tarot cards read, have your astrological chart cast, or even try palm or tea leaf readings. The town also offers healing services and spiritual messages. Cassadaga was founded in 1894 by George Colby, a spiritualist from Lily Dale, New York, who said he was led to the spot by his spirit guide, Seneca.
My fascination with the occult drew me to Cassadaga years ago. During my college years, a friend and I spontaneously decided to visit and get a reading. However, with limited walk-in options for mediums, we took what we could get. I don’t remember much about the reading—it was pretty generic, and I felt a bit let down. Despite that, my interest in the town never faded.
Years later, after retiring from my career as a VA social worker and working on my fifth book, Witch Trial Legacy, which is set in the town, I decided it was time to revisit Cassadaga for research. I shared my plans with fellow writers from my local Romance Writers of America chapter, and two friends asked to join me. We set up a date and planned our trip.
The day of our visit finally came. My husband drove, while Adele, her husband, and Donna (names changed for privacy) rode along with us. We took the scenic route, adding an extra hour to our drive, and stopped for lunch around noon, thinking we’d reach Cassadaga shortly after.
But, as life would have it, Donna received an urgent call about her cat, which was seriously ill. Distraught, she asked to go home, and of course, we did. After eight hours on the road, we returned home without ever reaching our destination. Ironically, Donna’s cat ended up being fine.
A few months later, my husband and I made another attempt—just the two of us this time. The weather was perfect: sunny, with a light breeze, and not too humid for Florida. As soon as we arrived in Cassadaga, I felt a peaceful atmosphere wash over me. The pace of life there seemed slower, and everyone was friendly and welcoming. We explored the town, taking photos of the signs advertising readings and spiritual services. We had a lovely lunch at the Cassadaga Hotel, browsed the gift shop, and checked out the camp bookstore. Though I didn’t get a reading, the day left a lasting impression on me.
Since then, I’ve felt a deep connection to Cassadaga—it’s a place unlike any other. If you’ve been there and read Witch Trial Legacy, I hope the setting feels familiar to you. If you haven’t visited yet, I highly recommend you do!
Witch Trial Legacy
(The Cassadaga Collection Book 1)
Sybilla Sanborn must break a centuries old curse before everything she cares about goes up in smoke.
Sybilla is a nurse gifted with the ability to heal with her touch but cursed with visions of future tragedies she cannot prevent because no one heeds her warnings. With help from the mediums of the spiritualist town of Cassadaga, Florida, she learns she is descended from both the first person executed for witchcraft in this country and the man who accused her.
Conn Ahern is an Iraq war vet dealing with pain and PTSD while working as a paramedic and struggling to save the ranch his grandmother founded. He’s an atheist who wants nothing to do with the people of the town.
When Conn and Sybilla meet, sparks fly, but not always in a good way, and their relationship fans the flames of jealousy and revenge in someone who doesn’t want them to work things out.
During a séance, her ancestor’s spirit reveals how Sybilla can rid herself of the curse and save Conn, but the price may be too high.

Salute et bonjour. Laissez les bons temps rouler!
In the words of Kool and the Gang, “Celebrate good times. Come on.” Today is a celebration. It’s finally here. Today is the release of my newest novel Demon Rodeo.
What is Demon Rodeo? It’s a genre mashup. If you’re looking for a palate cleanser from the traditional straightforward genres, this may be a book for you.
- Romance: The love story and romance take center stage.
- Contemporary: It is set in modern times. It is not a western.
- Sports romance: Bull riding and rodeos are sometimes overlooked as being a sport.
- Cowboy romance: The MCs are bull riders, and the setting is the rodeo circuit.
- Gay romance: This is a M/M romance and has LBGTQIA+ representation.
- Spicy romance/Steamy romance: This book isn’t “smut,” but it does have some mature themes and language. It definitely is not for the kiddos.
- Multicultural: The MCs as well as supporting characters all have diverse backgrounds. Many are Creole and Cajun. Multiple racial and ethnic groups are represented (including their language. A glossary is included).
- Paranormal romance: This story contains elements not explained by science. However, given the expansive definition of paranormal, some readers may describe the story as supernatural or the occult.
- Trope romance: Some tropes seen in Demon Rodeo are friends-to-lovers, small-town vibes (set in multiple places but some are small towns), forbidden romance, and workplace (rodeo circuit) romance.
- It is not a romantic comedy (romcom), but it contains humorous scenes. It contains a lot of sass and sarcasm.
- Southern storytelling romance: This isn’t an official romance category, but I include it because it may be important to some. In the South (although not all southern locations and not every southern person does this), it is not uncommon to hear stories relayed with anecdotes and “roundabout” talk. If you don’t like chatty characters, then Demon Rodeo may not be your cup of tea.
- It is the first book in the Chasing the Buckle series, but it is written to be read as a standalone.
- It is told with a dual point-of-view (POV).
Basically, if Brokeback Mountain, 8 Seconds, Poltergeist, and Supernatural had an orgy, Demon Rodeo would be the lovechild.
As part of my celebration, for the last thirty days, I have uploaded a post on my blog. These posts are all related to a theme or subject depicted in the story. These posts do not contain any spoilers or describe any scenes. But it can give a feel for the type of storytelling.
I had planned to do a giveaway. Well, I am doing multiple giveaways. Unfortunately, I will not be able to host one exclusively here at this time due to time constraints. But if you’re interested in winning a mystery box, head over to my TikTok account for entry. While you are there, you also can watch videos about Demon Rodeo.
Demon Rodeo
In the cutthroat rodeo world, Cajun bull rider Easton Faucheaux harbors a secret crush on his best friend and rival, Royal Guérin. As they grapple with their forbidden attraction amidst mysterious occurrences in the arena, they must choose between concealing their feelings or risking it all for a love that defies convention.
Cajun rodeo star Easton Faucheaux wants to win another bull riding championship but has three problems. First, he hasn’t completely healed from an injury, and his sponsors aren’t convinced he’s still competition material. Second, strange things are happening in the arenas that no one is acknowledging. And third, Royal has inundated every nuance of his thoughts. Not only is Royal his best friend and biggest competition, but he’s also the sexiest man Easton has ever seen. The mere thought of screwing up their friendship is enough to keep Easton’s lips clamped.
***
Royal Guérin has always confided everything to Easton—well, almost everything. He does have one secret that he’s never shared despite wanting to. However, with the finals nearing, protestors picketing, resurfaced feelings of his father’s abandonment, and other bizarre happenings that can’t be explained by natural occurrences, now isn’t the time for confessions.
Life is complicated without lopping more onto it. So, whose idea was it to visit a psychic? Oh, that’s right—a new competitor has popped up out of nowhere. Now, there’s another secret to conceal. Remaining silent is a struggle, but Royal will do anything to protect Easton.
Both athletes figure it’s best to remain silent—that is until silence isn’t an option anymore. The strangeness just got dangerous, and they find themselves embroiled in a deadly game of survival—mentally, emotionally, and physically.

I’m excited about my final book in my Lone Wolf Legacy series. Tempting the Black Wolf is releasing on September 9th, and I want to share my new cover.
Excerpt…
Onyx eased over to the wall, putting her back to it. Menace swept across the space to engulf them all. Since his attention was on the other three, she began to inch her way to the entryway.
His head snapped around, dark eyes pinning her in place. “Going somewhere?”
“Thought I’d pop around the corner for a mocha latte while you conducted business.” His lips twitched but he didn’t smile. That would ruin the whole dangerous vibe he had going on. Still, she held her breath and hoped.
He removed his coat and held it out to her. It was automatic for her to take it. “Hold this and be good for five minutes.” Turning back around, he dismissed her.
Be good! Be good! She should kick his ass. And she would if she thought she’d actually succeed. She fisted the leather fabric tighter. It would serve him right if she stomped his coat into the dirt, but that would be an insult to such a gorgeous piece of clothing. The scent of leather and male surrounded her. Desire licked over her skin. The man was insufferable. He was also handsome and smart and the key to her freedom. If she didn’t need him, she’d leave.

Who are the lone wolves?
Since the rise of the werewolf, there has always existed a single lone wolf—with pure white, gray, or black fur and eyes that match—who answers to no alpha, belongs to no pack. Merciless and deadly, he wanders the world, both judge and executioner of rogue wolves who senselessly kill, endangering all their kind.
When one dies, another takes its place, awakening to his purpose the first time he shifts to his wolf form. Known by the sign of the lone wolf—a sickle over the heart—the short-handled, circular blade remains as a tattoo on the man and as a mark on the wolf. A lethal combination of intelligence, brutal strength, and keen instinct, he walks a lonely path, shunned by pack, always alone.
For the first time, there are three in the world—white, gray, and black—who all bear the mark on their chests. No one knows why, least of all them…

UPDATE: The winner is…BN!
*~*~*
Today is a special day for me. Penalty Kill, the fourth book in my Locker Room Love series turns three today. It’s hard to believe that it’s been three years already. So, I’m celebrating.
Each book that I write is special to me, but Penalty Kill is extra special because it was written and released during the time the entire world broke—ya know, the height of the pandemic. As a result, I sadly couldn’t give it the usual welcome party. The following year, I was in the middle of writing Future Goals (book #5). This year, I’m preparing for the release of Demon Rodeo, the first book in my Chasing the Buckle series—a spicy, paranormal sports/cowboy (bull riding) romance. Thus, despite how much I love it, Penalty Kill seems to always being getting lost in the shuffle. Well, today, it will shine.
Penalty Kill centers on professional ice hockey veteran Timothée Croneau—one of the best players in the league with a garbage reputation. On the best of days, Timothée is crass and grumpy. And who wouldn’t be seeing how he was unceremoniously and unexpectedly traded to a team ranked dead last? The good part is that the team is located near his hometown of Mandeville, Louisiana. The bad part is that it is near his hometown which places him close enough to be a person of interest in a murder. And not just any murder—his estranged parents.
Sports agent Ryker Kitsch wants to make a name for himself. When he learns that Timothée has recently signed with the firm he works for, Ryker sees it as an opportunity. Since the senior agent representing Timothée has her hands full with other problematic clients, Ryker offers to be her assistant. What Ryker didn’t see was how captivated he would be by the dynamic forward. Timothée is not an ordinary client, and despite his gruff exterior, Ryker has a soft spot for him.
As with most of my novels, Penalty Kill is part of a series but can be read as a standalone. Regardless if a reader is a sports fanatic or novice, the sports scenes and jargon is easy to follow. The characters are multicultural and diverse, and the writing is on the sassy side. And if I didn’t mention, it’s spicy; so, not for the kiddies. It also has an author’s note and trigger warning.
If you would like to win a free copy of Penalty Kill, Penalty Kill, comment your favorite sport. One winner will be chosen at random and notified via email. (Please add genevivechamblee@yahoo.com to your contacts or safe mail list to prevent going to spam.) The contest will close on 8/31/24 at 12:01 AM. The winner will have 48 hours from the time of email notification to claim the prize.
That’s a wrap. Let me know your thoughts in the comment section. If you like this post, please click the like button and share. Your feedback allows me to know the content that you want to read.

Are you ready? Hmmm. This sounds like the opening to an Ole Miss football game. (If you know, you know.) Let’s try this again.
Are you ready for something different?
Like many writers, I began writing because I could not find stories I wanted to read. That doesn’t mean they didn’t exist. It means they didn’t exist where I was searching. Regardless of the reason why, I didn’t have the desired reading material which prompted me to create my own. Turns out, writing is also therapeutic. It positively filled the downtime on the bayou. But even with wonderful books to get lost in, sometimes, I got a hankering for something different.
Romance books are a lot predictable, and there’s nothing wrong with that. There’s satisfaction in knowing that a HEA or HFN awaits. The true joy is the journey there, and every book takes a different route to the destination. That is why the romance genre has stuck around for so long. That being said, some voyages are similar. Well, if you’re a reader wanting a palate cleanser, hang onto your bootstraps. I have the story for you in Demon Rodeo.
Now, I know what you’re probably thinking. “What kind of name is Demon Rodeo for a romance? It sounds more like…” If you completed that sentence with “something from a Louisiana bayou,” you’d be correct. But let me tell you about it and what makes it different.
- Demon Rodeo is the first book in the Chasing the Buckle If you don’t like reading series, that’s okay, because Demon Rodeo can be read as a standalone. No cliffhangers, I promise.
- It’s a mashup of several subgenres that aren’t typically seen together. I explain it as if Brokeback Mountain, 8 Seconds, Poltergeist, and Supernatural had an orgy, Demon Rodeo would be the lovechild. It is a contemporary MM paranormal spicy, friends-to-lovers sports romance.
- The story is about modern-day bull riders, but these cowboys aren’t on a ranch or a farm. This isn’t a “western.” These are Louisiana Cajun and Creole cowboys who are competing for a national championship. Their stories take place outside of the arena as much as inside of it.
- The characters are diverse and inclusive. Readers will definitely get a taste of the Cajun and Creole cultures as well as others.
- It has a heat level of volcanic. It’s not for the kiddies. This is an adult guilty pleasure. The main characters have sizzling chemistry. Yet, the plot doesn’t get lost in the steam and isn’t “smut” or erotica.
- It also isn’t horror that isn’t going to keep readers awake at night. However, if readers like a little bit of spook that will bring them to the edge of their seats, they can check that box. Think about the stories of the peculiarity and eccentricity that is rumored to occur in New Orleans.
- The story is fast-paced. For most readers, it feels like a quick read.
- Demon Rodeo supports healthy, nontoxic relationships between consenting adults.
- Not everything is predictable. As in life, sometimes things just occur, and they don’t always make sense. Adjustments must be made. Life is about swiveling and pivoting. So is this story.
- A romance is at the center of the story. Is there angst? Yes. Is there humor? For sure. Is there drama? Most definitely. Will it keep readers on their toes? That’s the intention. But in the end, it’s all about love and friendship.
So, why did I decide to write this post? It’s reveal day! I’m happy finally to be able to share the Demon Rodeo book cover. Be sure to follow me on my social media platforms because I have lots of giveaways and goodies coming soon.

Summer is here, which means people are heading out on holiday, having barbeques, going to concerts, and generally having fun. At some point, you’ll need a break. Pull up a lawn chair, get something cool to drink, and cozy up with the smokin’ hot wolves of the Lone Wolf Legacy series.
No one knows why, least of all them…
Taming the White Wolf
Lone Wolf Legacy, Book 1
There’s only supposed to be one lone wolf. When other shifters see me coming, see my white fur and pale eyes, they know things are about to get real. Because my job—my fate—is to take out the wolves who go rogue.
Only now something has changed.
For the first time ever, there are three of us: one white, one gray, one black. And if that’s not ominous enough, my senses have pulled me to New York City…for a human.
There’s something almost supernatural about the connection between me and Zoe Galvani. It’s not just the crackle of heat, the blood pounding through my veins—or even that her eyes are the strange, pale hue of my own.
It’s that she makes my wolf come alive. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever felt. Almost like magic.
Which is when I learn that someone’s out to hunt me. That I’m their prey.
…and Zoe is the bait.

Protecting the Gray Wolf
Lone Wolf Legacy, Book 2
I’m used to other wolves coming for me. They want their chance to try and take out the infamous Gray Wolf. And every single one of them fails—because lone wolves aren’t like the others…we’re stronger. Harder. Meaner. Immortal.
But it also means I’m alone. No pack. No alpha. Just the three of us—white, gray, and black. Two too many, if you ask me.
But with power-hungry mages gunning for us, I don’t have the luxury of reflection. They’re in New York City, and I Will. Hunt. Them. Down.
Which is when I see her, and every cell in my body is on alert, filled with the kind of primal longing I never knew I was capable of. Luna West may be human, but there’s some kind of thread connecting us. Call it destiny, fate…or voracious animal hunger.
I know she’s bait. She’s meant to tempt me, to make me weak. But even if I could resist her, I’m not sure I want to.
Because I’ve never denied my wolf anything…especially the chance to raise some serious hell.
And I’m not about to start now.
(Author Note: This book is told in third person point of view, even though the blurb is in first person.)

Monday, June 24th, 2024
Readers often ask me why I write paranormal romance. I like to say I write paranormal because I’m a little paranormal myself. The truth is, for as long as I can remember, I have had mysterious events happen to me. One of my earliest happened when I was five years old. I was playing outside with my siblings in the backyard of my house, an old, red-brick Victorian, and for some reason I yelled out, “I wanna see a ghost.” A round disk flew from the top of the house (the attic area) and blew by my face.
“Did you see that? Did you see that? It’s a UFO.” I called to my brother. He was running ahead and didn’t see it.
For years, I referred to this as “the time I saw a UFO.” In college, someone showed me a picture of a ghost orb, and I realized what I saw was not a UFO at all but a ghost. Duh! At five, I had no concept of ghosts, but I had seen UFOs on television.
In grade school, I began seeing fuzzy lights around my teachers in class. I thought I needed glasses, but after I got them, I still saw the lights, and they got bigger and brighter the older I got. In high school, I learned I had a knack for reading palms and telling fortunes. And in college, I accidentally hypnotized someone and realized I had a knack for hypnotism.
I was in demand at parties with people paying me to look at their palms or read their cards. At some point, I needed to make a choice: Did I want to pursue this talent full time as a career for money? Or did I want to pursue a different career?
I decided I didn’t want to be a paid psychic, but I couldn’t switch the talent off like a light. I call it my “hidden talent,” because I don’t make money from it, but my paranormal experiences make great material for writing romance novels.
Readers describe my books as realistic because they are set in contemporary times with the characters having hidden paranormal talent rather than being fantasy characters. If you’d like to try one of my books, CROSS WAVES, is on sale this week (June 24-July 1). For the first time since it was released in 2020, you can read this award-winning book for just $.99 cents!
Writing CROSS WAVES was a labor of love. From start to finish, it took me four years to perfect the storyline. Reviewers use phrases like, “a non-stop reading experience,” “fast-paced,” “heart-pounding,” and (my personal favorite), “I couldn’t put the book down.” The characters are fun, unexpected, and likable. The heroine possesses a dangerous talent. The hero guards a dark secret. The hero’s grandmother plays a pivotal role. And one character, Caleb Stone, who readers meet towards the end of the book, surprised even me, seeming to appear on his own without conscious thought on my part and setting the series up nicely for the yet unwritten book three, “Dream Waves.”
One recent reviewer said it best, “Cross Waves is about the power of love and the strength that comes from knowing someone believes in you and will always be in your corner.”
I hope you will give it a try: https://books2read.com/b/Crosswaves. If you do, I would love to know what you think.
